The Cheyenne County Board of Commissioners held an open and public emergency meeting tele-phonically on Tuesday, March 19, 2019. A motion was made by Miller, seconded by Sanders to declare a state of emer-gency as authorized under Nebraska State Statute R.R.S. 81-829.50 on behalf of Cheyenne County and authorize the expendi-ture of emergency funds from all available sources, invoke mutual aid agree-ments and apply to the State of Nebraska for assis-tance from the Governor’s Emergency Fund and other resources. Further, Randal D. Miller shall be authorized to execute the Disaster Declaration. Roll Call: Aye: Sanders, Johnson, Miller. Nay: None.

Heidi Gillespie, Communications Center Director, explained to the Board that the Communications Center had received a Federal grant for a new radio tower to be erected at the Court House. Director Gillespie stated that the Board would need to approve the installation of the new radio tower. Christy Warner, Kimball County Transit Service Administrator, addressed the Board regarding the Kimball County transit service. Ms. Warner previously discussed the pro-gram at the February 4th Board meeting. Now, Ms. Warner requested support from the County in the amount of $10,000.00. Shelley Bowlin, County Treasurer, presented a pledged securities report. A motion was made by Miller, seconded by Sanders to approve the report as submitted. Roll Call: Aye: Miller, Sanders, Johnson. Nay: None.

Next, Treasurer Bowlin reported on the tax sale which was held on March 4, 2019. There were 88 tax sale certificates sold in the amount of $148,675.74.

Jennifer Powell, AFLAC representative, addressed the Board regarding the dental and vision insurance available to the County employees.

At 8:50 A.M., a motion was made by Miller, seconded by Sanders to go into execu-tive session for the performance evaluation of Roger Conley, Building and Grounds Superintendent. Roll Call: Aye: Sanders, Johnson, Miller. Nay: None.

A motion was made by Miller, seconded by Sanders to table the awarding of the bid until Highway Superintendent Doug Hart has time to review the individual bids. decided that twice a year the mechanic at the Highway department would check the generator motor and Nathan Juhl from CNN Electrical Services would check the electri-cal section. Kevin Howard, Tourism Director, discussed the highway signs that were located on

property owned by separate individuals. Each landowner would be paid the sum of $200.00 per year as rent for the ground where the signs are located. Director Howard presented Sign Leases between Cheyenne County and the individual landowners. A motion was made by Sanders, seconded by Miller to approve the Sign Leases as pre-sented. Roll Call: Aye: Sanders, Johnson, Miller. Nay: None. There being no further business to come before the Board, Chairman Johnson declared

On Sunday, March 17, Sidney Just For Kix Dance hosted its annual Kix for Kids Show.

Show proceeds were donated to Sid-ney Schools and the Mike and Ashley Onken Family. Ashley and Mike’s baby son, Wyatt, was born with a rare ge-netic disorder called Mosica Trisomy 9. Their daughters Reagan and Hadlee both dance in the Sidney Just For Kix program. To show our support for this, Just For Kix family a majority of show proceeds went to them.

The Just For Kix Dancers who per-formed range in age from 2 - 18 years old. The dancers closed out the show with

their annual dance with their Moms, which included some sisters, aunts and grandmothers. Their next performance is their Spring Recital 1:30 p.m. April 14 in the Sidney Middle School Gym.

The theme is New York, New York. Teams performing include Tiny Kix, Wee Kix, Mini Kix, Mini Hip Hop/Jazz, Middle/Jr Kix, Varsity Team and our JFK Dads, along with uncles, brothers, moms and grandpas.

The Performance Varsity Team — fifth through 12th grade dancers — is scheduled to perform Friday at the Sidney Middle School Spirit Club Pep Rally.

Several Cheyenne County students attend-ing the University of Wyoming have earned sports on the school’s top honor roll.

The University of Wyo-ming lists 46 students from Nebraska on the 2018 fall semester aca-demic Dean’s and Dean’s Freshman Honor Rolls.

The honor rolls con-sist of regularly enrolled undergraduates above freshman standing who earned a 3.4 or better grade-point average, and freshmen who have earned a 3.25 or better grade-point average.

To be eligible, students must have been enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours taken for letter grades.

The University of Wyo-ming provides quality undergraduate and grad-uate programs to 12,450 students from all 50 states and 89 countries.
