This year the Holiday Homework is slightly tilted towards ISA (International School Award) activities undergoing in the school. Year
2016 marks the celebration of 400 years of William Shakespeare’s legacy around the world. This special anniversary year is a unique
opportunity to enhance student’s understanding of Shakespeare’s literary work and use their creativity, knowledge, skills and
strategies to do the authentic research based on it.
Artistic, imaginative, innovative and interdisciplinary holiday homework is designed in languages and Social Science on the theme of
Shakespeare where they will be engaged and expected to research, read , appreciate and explore the work of the famous writer and
execute the same in the form of Calendar, Postal Stamp, Scroll Making, Cards etc.
The project on the theme “Flowers of Hope” in Science and Maths will allow students to know about various kinds of flora in different
countries. They will compare the landscape, techniques, kinds of gardens that people maintain in India and different countries. The
students will be presenting this with the help of Fact Files, Posters, Planters, PPTs, Floral Rangoli, Model of Garden etc. Thus they
will understand the concept of sustainability and the need to live in harmony with nature and gather knowledge about different types
of gardens around the world.

1 - 16 Floral Rangoli Students will prepare a floral rangoli as per the following details:
1. Students will research and select a floral design.
2. Draw the selected design on a cardboard of size 15 inches by 15 inches covered properly with a plain
pastel sheet.
3. Color or decorate the design beautifully using pulses, rice, dry leaves, colors, glitters or any other
suitable medium.
4. Mention the mathematical concept which is depicted in the floral design.

Window Curtain using
different flowers with
symmetry
Students will prepare a window curtain as per the following details:
1. Search information about any three or four flowers and leaves which has line symmetry.
2. Prepare cut outs of these flowers and leaves .
3. Decorate these flowers and leaves beautifully.
4. Prepare four long strings of length 4 ft
5. The flowers and leaves can be made out of thick cartridge sheet of good color. Paste the cutouts of
flowers on these strips and decorate them beautifully.
6. They can also use any other material along with these cutouts to decorate the strings such as glass
beads ,glass cylinders

GUIDELINES FOR MAKING A BROCHURE:
1. The brochure should be made in a team of 5-6 students of your respective class as a collaborative project work.
2. You must do a thorough research on the topic.
3. The brochure should be made using A3 size sheet and should have 8-10 leaves.
4. Cover page should be beautifully decorated according to the given themes.
5. Each leaf should mention proper headings and sub-headings.
6. Write down brochure overview (a brief idea about what the brochure is all about).
7. Make a Bibliography (the books read, the websites visited for the project)
8. Substantiate it with photographs as per the allotted theme.
9. The last leaf of your brochure should have name of group member; roll numbers, academic year, class and section and few photographs of working
together in a team.

3. Decorate them creatively. Use illustrations (cutouts/
sketching etc.) to make it attractive, creative and
presentable.

PREPARING POT- FLOWERS OF DIFFERENT COUNTRIES
INTRODUCTION:
We plant flowers primarily for their beauty and fragrance but they have many other benefits. By planting and caring for flowers, we help improve our surroundings, reduce pollution, improve the appearance of our community and increase the value of our property. Flower gardens combine plants of different heights, colors, textures, and fragrances to create interest and delight the senses.
GUIDELINES TO PREPARE A POT WITH FLOWER SEEDS OF DIFFERENT COUNTRIES
To sow the seeds of a flower of USA, JAPAN,CHINA AND INDIA.
Mix equal proportions of red soil, manure, garden soil, and sand from which larger stones have been removed.
Fill three-fourth of the pot with this mixture.
Place one or two seeds in the pot, inserted to a depth which equals the size of the seed.
Keep the pot in a shady place away from direct sunlight.
Sprinkle with water regularly to keep the soil moist, preferably in the mornings and evenings.
Wait for the tiny seedling to sprout.
Weeds should be removed as and when they appear.
Observe and record observation of its growth in the observation table.
Decorate the pot and submit it to your science teacher.
Teacher`s Tip:
A) To decorate the pot, materials like clay, paper, beads, icecream sticks, paints etc. can be used.
