A Collector’s Dream is a store which specializes in carrying many hard-to-find collectibles and memorabilia items. Since collecting is a form of ritual consumption, A Collector’s Dream is a perfect

example store for this type of consumption.

Hallmark stores across America sell greeting cards, collectibles, candy, and other types of stationery and party supplies. Much of their inventory, specifically their greeting cards, are

designed to be sold for specific holidays like Valentine’s Day, Halloween, and Christmas. Holidays, especially ones with religious connotations, are definite examples of ritual consumption.

Honeybaked Ham stores sell their famous hams, both pre-cooked and cold, to consumers across America. Their busiest time of the year is at Christmas, when many families enjoy ham as part of

their ritual Christmas Day meal.

Abercrombie & Fitch stores appeal to many of the senses of their consumers. Their clothing stores are filled with images of beautiful models and scents of their colognes and perfumes. Plus, modern

music is played throughout the store, adding to the sensory experience.

Origins is a store located in many malls throughout North America which specializes in health, bath, and beauty products. The stores have a very clean feeling to them, with the pleasant aromas of

many of their skin products drifting through the air.

Spencer’s Gifts stores are a virtual sensory overload! The bright flashing neon lights, crazy sound effects, and wild costumes all draw the consumers into the store and appeal to many of the senses.

Billy Bob’s Texas, known as “the world’s largest honky-tonk”, is a total consumer experience which is a great example of entertainment retailing. From the western wear store, to the bull riding arena,

to the concert hall, there is entertainment all around for all cowboys at heart.

The ESPN Zone chain of restaurants, located in many of the larger cities in North America, offer many forms of entertainment. The numerous big-screen tv’s carrying

sporting events from around the world, the trivia games, and the arcade all provide fun for the patrons at this establishment.

The Hard Rock Café is known for it’s music, it’s great food, and it’s extensive collection of memorabilia from throughout the history of music.

Party City is a great example of thematic retailing because the entire theme of the store focuses on supplying for parties. All of your holiday or special event party needs are located all in one place at

Party City.

The Rain Forest Café is a restaurant and store which is decked out in an elaborate rain forest theme. There are many jungle sounds and animated creatures located throughout the restaurant,

which creates the feeling of being in a rain forest.

Tiffany & Co. is a jewelry and luxury item store which signifies affluence. Since affluence is one type of thematic retailing, Tiffany’s is a perfect example.

The Buckle clothing stores sell trendy clothing to a target market of young adults, both men and women. It is a wonderful example of the self-expression portion of lifestyle retailing.

Old Navy stores can be found throughout the United States and specialize in selling affordable and casual clothing, perfect for a day at the beach, a road trip, or just a day around the house. It is a

great example of the casual lifestyle retailing portion of the chapter.

Modia Home Theater Stores are a wonderful place for people to shop who prefer the “cocooning” lifestyle. For those who don’t like to leave the house much for entertainment, they can purchase their very own home theater from this store, enabling them to watch all of their movies from the
