Term 1 Week 8 15th March 2016
Clairgate Chronicle
Welcome to the Clairgate Chronicle for this fortnight – Week 8, Term 1.
Car Parking, Photos and Unsafe Behaviour outside Clairgate in the Afternoon!
I know at Clairgate we all have the best interests of our children at heart and I urge you to be responsible when stopping at the Kiss and Drop Zone – PLEASE DO NOT PARK in this zone for more than 2 minutes – and PLEASE DO NOT STOP AT THE CROSSING to pick your children up - this is extremely dangerous. Car parking and unsafe driving practices are becoming a big issue at the front of the school in the afternoons. So much so that unfortunately some people think it is a good idea to photograph this behaviour in an attempt to “shame” people into doing the right thing. While your intentions might be good, it is a very bad idea to photograph outside any school – especially as you may accidentally photograph children, which of course is totally unacceptable. It is also very confusing (and scary) for our students to see “random” people taking photos as the children are leaving the school. I ask that you DO NOT take photos outside the school – especially when our children are present. I will continue to call in concerns to the Parking Rangers and if necessary to the Police about these dangerous stopping practices.
Clairgate “Extra” Super Fish
Congratulations to our wonderful District Swimming Team who swam on Friday, 4th March at the District Carnival. As usual our “Clairgate” behaviour was outstanding and all swimmers gave their absolute best – well done! We have 12 students representing our district at the Regional Carnival at Homebush – Good Luck everyone!
I was especially proud to be watching and cheering for Clairgate on the day of racing – I am always so pleased to see our students displaying the outstanding qualities of respect, resilience and “having a go”….that’s the Clairgate spirit!

Sport Report Term 1 Week 8 2016
District Swimming Carnival
Well done to Clairgate’s swimming squad who competed at last week’s St Marys District Swimming Carnival at Mt Druitt Pool. Mrs Lawrow and Mrs Millevoi both commented on the students behaviour, sportsmanship and the spirit displayed on the day. Congratulations must go to the whole team as Clairgate finished runners up out of 12 schools at the carnival. Congratulations and good luck to the following superfish that will be representing St Marys District at the Regional (Sydney-West) Carnival on 24th March at Homebush: James Leo, Alex Myers, Rory Hayes, Jack Histon, Isabel Manning, Grace Manning, Christina Kavouras, Ashleigh Becroft, Delynda Pilbin and Zachary Heffernan.
Summer Sport Gala Day Cancelled Unfortunately, the proposed Summer Sport Gala Day (set down for Thursday 28th April) has been cancelled. This has occurred due to the unavailability of other schools on this date, as well as clashes with many Sydney-West Regional carnivals (which many of our students are competing in). These representative carnivals mostly occur around late Term 1 and early Term 2. It is envisaged that a Summer Sport Gala Day will now take place in Term 4! We are also working on having a Mini Gala Day (possibly later this term) on our school grounds which will involve our already selected Summer PSSA teams (OzTag, Cricket & T-Ball ) competing in games against each other. This means that our Summer sport teams will continue to train each Friday in preparation for these replacement events.
Champions!
Congratulations to Jada Taylor and Tayleah Pasili on their wonderful achievement in being selected in the 2016 NSW Under 10’s Girls OzTag team!! It makes everyone very proud at Clairgate to know that two girls from our school were able to make a team that is selected from hundreds of competitors from all over the state. This news follows the fact that Jada and Tayleah were also part of the Nepean District Rep team that won the State Championship in Coffs Harbour last month!! Great effort girls, good luck at The
National Oz Tag Championships. PS. PLEASE BEAT QUEENSLAND!!!!
Jump Rope For Heart Next term, our school will be participating in Jump Rope For Heart. This promotion raises much needed funds for the continued research into heart disease in our community. Yrs 1 – 6 will not only raise money for a worthy cause, but also further develop fitness and coordination skills along the way. Further details regarding sponsorship procedures and a timeline of all activities involved will be included in future newsletters.
School Cross Country Carnival Clairgate’s Annual Cross Country Carnival will be held in our school grounds on Tuesday 3rd May (Term 2 Week 2). All Yrs 3 – 6 students are expected to participate. Any Yr 2 Students (who turn 8 this year!) are also invited to compete on the day.
District Cross Country Carnival
The St Marys District Cross Country Carnival will be held on Thursday 26th May at Penrith International Regatta Centre. (Term 2 Week 5)
