Attention - School Play News By: Kathryn Duffy and Lydia Tomko

This is it! The moment you have all been waiting for: the St.

Denis, Cardinal Foley, and Annunciation play! Drumroll, please…Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat! This full musical follows the Old Testament story of Joseph. It is filled with catchy music, fun dances, and crazy characters, like Pharaoh/Elvis!

Do you know Joseph’s story? He was one of Jacob’s twelve sons, and his favorite. Jacob gives Joseph a beautiful, many-colored coat. His ten older brothers grow jealous and stage his death, but change their plan when they see a group of people heading towards Egypt. They sell Joseph to them as a slave, and he becomes the slave of Potiphar, a rich Egyptian man. Potiphar unjustly and incorrectly accuses Joseph of wrongdoing and throws him in prison. Then, in prison, Joseph interprets the meanings of two fellow prisoner’s dreams. Eventually, he is released, because the Pharaoh wants his mysterious and difficult dreams to be interpreted, and can find no one who is able to do so. What becomes of Joseph? And what about his brothers and Jacob? Does Joseph come out on top, leaving us with a perfect Happily Ever After, or does he become a slave under Elvis/Pharaoh? You will have to come see the show to find out.

This is the first show that the St. Genesius Theater Society has ever done which is not a Junior version. Seventh and eighth graders can audition on December 8, at one o’clock, but there are parts for all 4-8th graders. Joseph is a wonderful song- and dance-filled show that will need a large cast to perform. Even if you do not want to be onstage, you can still be a part of this performance by helping on stage crew. Remember to keep checking the website (St Genesius Theater Society) and consider doing something with the show this year.

St Denis Field Hockey By: Dillan Grimes

St. Denis field hockey is having a great start to the season! We’re having fun & working really well together as a team! We’re undefeated so far with 4 games played. In addition we’ve participated in a couple tournaments. We didn’t win every game, but still had tons of fun! It has been a great season.

Annunciation Field Hockey

By: Sophia LeStrange and Gretchen Confora

AVBM field hockey is all about having fun. Sometimes you might lose but the next week you will try harder to win. AVBM is comprised of two teams; Junior Varsity (JV) which is for 5th and 6th graders and Varsity (V) which is for 7th and 8th graders. We practice after school Monday - Thursday and sometimes on Fridays. Games are usually on Wednesday or Thursday. A tradition for our field hockey team is that for the Varsity's last game, the 7th graders make posters for the 8th graders to celebrate them. Varsity made the playoffs and lost in the 3rd round. Two of our 8th graders made the All-Star team for field hockey (Delco), Kate Konieczny (our captain) and Annabella Confora.

Kindness corner By: Alyssa Littlewood and Carson Reyle

Mackenzie Ciotti put one post it note up on the bathroom mirror saying a kind note, it caught on and soon there were so many kind notes. She was inspired by her Mom, Mrs. Taggart, and Mrs. DeAngelo. She did this random act of kindness because the kindness campaign made her mind wander to an idea she saw online. She has no regrets about doing it and thinks it had a small impact.

We randomly interviewed over 50 students from the school to find out the favorite Christmas song.

From these results, we found out that Jingle Bell Rock is the

school’s favorite Christmas song.

St Denis Football By: Peter Schmidt

The St. Denis Bulldogs are preparing for their game against SASH on Sunday the 22nd. They've been practicing since the middle of August, trying to get ready for the upcoming season. They were bested in their first game against Chestmont Catholic, but used that anger to beat St. Dots the next week. As you can see, they are taking a water break during one of the tiring practices during the week. This team is not in our league, so we don't know what they'll be throwing at us. Wish us luck, and GO DAWGS!!

Advent By: Maddie Mafodda

As we get closer to Christmas, we remember that the holiday is not just about presents and decorations, but Jesus’ birth. The four weeks leading up to Christmas, called Advent, we prepare for the birth of Jesus by repenting, and sharing with those who need it. Some people might not yet know that Advent is the start of the Liturgical year, so we try to start fresh by going to Penance and Reconciliation. An Advent program that our parish does is Advent Angels where you can pick a gender and age range (ex: Gender: boy Age: newborn) and buy the appropriate gift for that type of person. We also light 4 candles: 1 pink and 3 purple, which symbolizes hope, love, joy, and peace. You start with one of the purple candles and add one candle until all four candles are lit.

SEEDS By: Rachael Riehl and Conall

Harvey

The SEEDS program is a great way for students to be able to get together after school and learn new skills, while enjoying time with friends. The options this time were Lego club, Cupcakes club, Kindness club, Board games, and Basketball. The choices can be different every year.

Let's tell you some good stuff about the Lego club. It would be fun to do challenges with friends and make creative stuff. If you want to join the Lego club, please do it you will enjoy the whole time.

Now we need you to not be hungry because we are going to talk about Cupcake club! As you know cupcakes are delicious. In this club, you have decorations and frosting to make your own cupcake. Also, it’s fun when there are friends there with you!

Now go to the mood of Kindness club. As you know our school is already kind, but we have room for more. This is a great way to make us feel kind and come up with new ways to show kindness and spread it everywhere. This group goes around the school and displays kindness for everyone.

The last two clubs are Board games and Basketball. These are new to the Seeds program. In Board games, you get together and play some epic games. This is a good time to be with friends and learn new games. For basketball, it is a little bit of the same but…. You can play basketball and get strong. You can have good sportsmanship with your friends.

This is the time to not be mad at your friends, so always remember we're all friends! I think if you want to do SEEDS you should try it! It goes from 3:00 to 4:30.
