Civic Center Renovation News February 15, 2015 – Virginia Avery of Wells, ME was the first guest to enter the newly renovated Civic Center at the Maine Home, Remodeling and Garden Show! She was presented with a plaque by Civic Center Board Chairman Neal Pratt and bouquet of flowers by Cumberland County Commissioner Susan Witonis. February 12, 2014 – THE CIVIC CENTER RECEIVES CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY! We are open for business!

Civic Center Renovation News

February 15, 2015 – Virginia Avery of Wells, ME was the first guest to enter the newly

renovated Civic Center at the Maine Home, Remodeling and Garden Show! She was presented with a plaque by Civic Center Board Chairman Neal Pratt and bouquet of flowers by Cumberland County Commissioner Susan Witonis.

THE CIVIC CENTER RECEIVES CERTIFICATE OF OCCUPANCY!

We are open for business!

January 27, 2014 - These are photos of the interior of the mid-level suite in the Northwest

corner. Suites will be furnished with comfy chairs along the rails that provide a great view of the end stage, center stage and the entire arena floor for hockey, ice shows and motor sport events. Each suite is different and will be furnished with couches/love-seats, high top tables and bar stools. Each suite has a sizable hospitality area.

January 20, 2014 – The new club room is nearing completion. These photos show the room

before carpet and after carpet installation!

January 16, 2014 – This is a view looking east down the Spring Street Concourse.

This is a view looking east down the Free Street Concourse.

Students from MECA have created a temporary art mural that is being installed along Free Street.

January 15, 2014 – This is a view looking east toward the new southwest entry. This is all

new construction in the area of the old Spring Street Plaza.

Locker room finishes are being completed just in time for the Maine State Class A & B Boys’ and Girls’ High School Basketball Tournaments!

January 13, 2014 – Counter and appliance installation continues in the new food and

beverage areas.

Trench drains and final grading is underway for the sidewalk along the loading bays on Center Street.

January 9, 2014 – Installation of lighting fixtures in all areas of the building are nearing

completion.

Racks for sound and lighting equipment are being installed in the new booth at the west end of the arena bowl.

January 8, 2014 – Fixtures and appliances are being installed in the new concessions stands.

Insulation is being placed in the exterior wall cavity on at the southwest corner prior to the installation of the metal exterior sheathing.

Office furniture has been delivered to the new Administration Office. This was the first area of the building to be totally completed.

New guardrail is being installed around the existing stair from the lobby area to the arena floor.

January 4, 2013 – Cabinets and counters are being installed in the new box offices.

The concrete slab is being prepared for the new flooring in the pavilion at the southeast corner concourse. Installation of the ceilings, soffits and decorative lighting fixtures has been completed.

December 23, 2013 – The exterior façade of the new Southeast entrance is nearing

completion.

This is a view looking East down the Spring Street Concourse toward the new pavilion over the entrance at the corner of Spring Street and Center Street.

December 19, 2013 – Scaffolding removal is underway at the top of the new entrance stairs

at the corner of Spring Street and Center Street.

Over 60% more Ladies’ and Men’s restrooms have been added to the Civic Center!

Upgrades to the Free Street Concourse are nearing completion.

Progress continues on the new Spring Street façade.

December 18, 2013 – Counter installation is underway in the new Box Office.

This is a view inside the new entrance on upper Spring Street. A ramp in the center left of the photo will allow accessible access to the Box Office and to the ticketing lobby.

A new walk-in freezer/cooler for the Food and Beverage Department has been installed in the backstage area.

Installation of new louvered doors at the vomitories is nearing completion.

New precast end caps are in place where he seating platforms were cut back to allow for a wider opening from the backstage area onto the arena floor.

December 11, 2013 – Overhead door installation in the new loading dock area is in

progress.

Doors are being installed between the ticket lobby and the West Concourse.

December 5, 2013 – Installation of the ceiling in the new pavilion over the Southeast

entrance is underway.

Tile wainscot has been completed in the new Southeast concourse restrooms.

December 4, 2013 – The new Southwest lobby is enclosed and stair rails are in place.

Brick pavers have been placed at the corner of Spring Street and Free Street.

November 25, 2013 – Work continues on the interior and exterior of the new Spring Street

entrance.

The new pavilion located above the Spring Street entrance will contain banks of restrooms and new food and beverage offerings. This is a beautiful new space!

Framing in underway at the Southwest corner suites. Carpet is being installed in the Northwest corner suites.

Acrylic floor installation continues on Free Street.

November 21, 2013 – Granite curbing is being installed at the corner of Center Street and

Spring Street. Sidewalk preparations are underway.

The new loading ramp has been completed and protection is in place. The new loading docks are located to the right of this image.

November 20, 2013 – Curtain wall installation and brick veneer of the new Southeast

Entrance is nearing completion.

This is a view looking west down the Spring Street Concourse. Painting continues in this area. The contrast between the old concrete and the newly painted surfaces can be seen in the upper center of this photo. The new concession stand is located midway down the concourse on the left.

The concrete pour of the new loading ramp is in progress.

November 18, 2013- This image shows the new Spring Street Concourse concession stand.

There is a window in the back wall of this stand that overlooks Spring Street.

November 13, 2013- This is a view from the Spring Street median. The construction

containing the new upper Spring Street entrance, the new Club room and a lower level locker room is in progress. Exterior sheathing is being placed in preparation for the masonry veneer and glass curtain wall.

This photo was taken looking south from the third level suite in the southwest corner. Roof work is underway on the new entry and Club room in the southwest corner.

Brick veneer work continues on the new southeast entrance and the area above the loading bays.

Interior painting and tile work in the concourses is nearing completion.

November 11, 2013 – This photo shows an example of the treatment being applied to the

floors on the concourse, restrooms and lobby. It is an attractive alternative to the existing concrete floors and provides excellent slip resistance.

Installation of the new telescopic seating at the east end of the bowl is nearing completion.

November 4, 2013- This is a view east looking down Spring Street. The new Club room is on

the concourse level to the left of the image.

This photo was taken looking west from inside the new Club room. The exterior wall will be glass.

Telescopic seating platforms are being constructed at the east end of the bowl. When these platforms are collapsed, the concert stage will be moved back providing more saleable seats in front of the stage.

October 30, 2013 – This is a view of the new concourse level pavilion in the Southeast

corner. This area will house a large number of new restrooms and concession options.

This photo shows the progress of the concourse level in the Southwest corner. The new Spring Street entrance is to the right of the photo and the Club room will be located to the left of the entrance. This is new construction in the area that was the exterior Spring Street Plaza.

October 28, 2013 – This is a view inside the new Southeast entrance. The concrete stairs

are nearing completion. The new escalator is located on the left of the photo under protective covering.

This is a view south toward the new suites in the Southwest corner. Preparations are underway for concrete floor placement in this area.

October 23, 2013 – The soffit overhang at the new Southeast entrance is currently being

framed.

This is a view looking toward the Old Port from the new concourse level pavilion at the Southeast corner.

October 16, 2013 – Installation of the curtain wall at the Southeast corner is nearing

completion. It is starting to look very much like the rendering!

This is a view from the roof of the parking garage toward the progress at the Southwest entrance. Steel framing is underway for the suites and new club room.

Progress continues on the event level and lobby level at the Southwest corner.

October 10, 2013 – Steel framing for the stair at the Southeast entrance is being installed.

October 9, 2013 – Framing for the glass curtain wall at the new Southeast entrance

continues.

The Civic Center floor has been transformed into a huge staging area.

October 4, 2013 – This is a view looking south showing the loading bays and the new

entrance at the corner of Spring Street and Center Street.

This is an interior view of a new backstage marshaling area in the foreground and the loading bays beyond.

This photo shows ceiling mounts for movable partisans to be installed in the visitor’s locker rooms. This feature will provide much needed flexibility for concerts and sporting events featuring multiple teams.

This is a view of the new transformer vault at the southeast corner. Cover frames are in place for the final concrete pour.
