We are all, every one of us, a part of one great big family, that family we proudly call the family of humanity. It is during the holiday season that we often think of family, whether birth family, or chosen family. We also speak much of the word “peace“ during the holiday season – peace within ourselves individually and within our families. It matters not if we embrace Christianity, Judaism, Buddhism, Muslim faith, etc., etc., we all seek peace.

The writings of those faiths best express their teachings.

Buddha wrote, “Hatred does not cease by hatred, but only by love; this is the eternal rule”; “Until he has unconditional and unbiased love for all be-ings, man will not find peace”;

From the Qur’an Chapter 49, "O mankind! We created you from a male and a female and made you into nations and tribes that you may know and honor each other (not that you should despise one an-other).” Chapter 30, "And among His signs is this that ye may dwell in tranquility …….., and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts)……”

From the Hindu Faith, “The beginning of love is to let those we love be perfectly themselves, and not to twist them to fit our own image. Otherwise we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them.”

From the Jewish and Christian Faiths: Leviticus 19: “….Love your neighbor as yourself”; “The alien living with you…..love him as yourself….”

Proverbs 10:2: “Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over everything.”

Jesus said in Matthew “Love your neighbor just like you love yourself”; “Do not judge other people or you will be judged in the same manner in which you judge others”; “Do to other people the same that you would have them do to you”.

The Apostle Paul wrote in Galatians 3, “You are ALL children of God….There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you all are one.” Since he wrote that we are ALL children of God, I do not fear to include the words in the Carr Revised Version, “gay nor straight”.

The Apostle Peter wrote in 1 Peter 3, “ALL of you, live in HARMONY with one another; be sympathetic, LOVE as brothers and sisters, be compassion-ate….”

The hymn writer, John Oxenham wrote a beautiful

Christian hymn of inclusiveness in 1908. The teachings within the hymn can be applied to any belief system with minor adjustments to wording:

In Christ there is no East or West, In Him no South or North; But one great fellowship of love Throughout the whole wide earth.

In Him shall true hearts everywhere Their high communion find; His service is the golden cord, Close binding all mankind.

Join hands, then, family of faith, Whate'er your state may be! Who serves my Father as a child Is surely kin to me.

In Christ now meet both East and West, In Him meet South and North; All souls are one in Him Throughout the whole wide earth.

Over hot cups of Sanka in her lovely trailer Miss Richfield 1981 shared what she’s been up to and plans for 2013. As she is a role model we asked if she has any inspiring words for readers intent on making New Year’s Resolu-tions.

“Personally with my glamorous life it’s hard to put myself into the shoes of your readers. They probably made a lot of poor choices in their lives, being homos. Your readers should make a resolution to be more attractive – it always helps,” she advises. “There’s a lot of talk about smart and pretty but the reality is you just need to be pretty – surfaces and outward appearances are the most important. So, I say keep it simple, keep it surfacy.”

She did reveal one very impor-tant resolution, which shaped her life. “I resolved to enter and win the Miss Richfield pageant. I entered in ’77, ’78, ’79, ‘80 then finally won in ‘81 just be-fore I was going to age out of the pageant. After that, what more could I need in life?”

In terms of the New Year Miss Richfield has one less reason to make any resolutions. “We’re all gonna’ be dead by Christmas anyway,” she exclaimed. “Personally I am trying to max my cards out at the Wal-Mart because the Mexicans say our time’s up on the 21st,” she said about the Mayan Calendar, which predicts Dec. 21, 2012 will bring the end of the world. “So, why bother?”

That’s also the theme of her show 2012: “e“ll All Be Dead by Christmas currently onstage in Minneapolis with tour dates in Provincetown and Rehoboth, Del., at the end of the month. “Those Mexicans might be a little late so why not make that extra dollar before the end? I feel like it would be great to be on stage when the whole thing goes! Personally I’d just love to do my rendition of the song L-O-V-E and when I hit the V,” during which she stands on her head and throws her legs into the air in the shape of the letter V, “I’d like Jesus to appear at that moment. Something special for Him.”

When asked how she relaxes and stays slim Miss

Richfield 1981 shared beneficial advice. “Pamprin with Coedine – is the cornerstone of my relaxation and happiness. Oh, and Jesus, yeah, He’s in there somewhere,” she added piously, popping a breath mint. “I also do Pontius Pilates with my Church group. Remember, if you look good on the outside people treat you better. The other thing is my Tic-Tac-Joe, that really keeps me looking fantastic!”

Her diet is simple, two Tic-Tacs and a cup of Sanka for breakfast and at lunch three Tic-Tacs and Sanka. “After that, if you can remember your name, have a sensible dinner and another cup of Sanka. You will never look better and your breath stays so fresh,” she said and confided she’s been on this diet since 2009.

Ever an industrious Minnesotan gal Miss Richfield 1981 already has projects set for 2013. She is currently \ preparing Miss Rich-field“s “ and “ou for a new channel on YouTube.com called Gwist.

“I’m also working on a new show called Sweet and Sour Richfield: Packing for Peking. With all of this outsourcing to China I wanna’ be on the cutting edge, ya know,” she said. “Then of course there’s my work as a spokeswoman for Or-bitz.com, that’s really fun because they pay! I was so excited about it I got moist, you might spot that in the commercials. I do hope to get to Florida this year too, my fans there are especially in need of Jesus.”

That’s right, her work is a ministry and she closed the interview with an inspiring line from scripture. “When Jesus was sitting with disciples at that table, all on one side, you know, he said, ‘Remember, it’s important to be nice but it’s nicer to be important.’ Amen to that. If Jesus said it we should all be living that. I know I am.”

Keep up with Miss R’ at MissRichfield.wordpress.com for show times, tour dates and other goodies. Miss Richfield’s Q and You will air beginning on January 13, 2013, check YouTube.com under the Gwist channel for details.

Most people do not think about their car insurance each month. They may notice that they pay premiums out every month – or not if it is automatically deducted - and assume that they are “fully” covered. The only time that an insurance policy’s term and coverage may be further ex-amined would be after an accident. After the accident it is too late!! I always encourage clients to not wait until an accident to find out that your policy doesn’t cover everything that you thought it did. Protect yourself - here are some things to think about when looking over your policy: What is liability coverage and why do I need it? Liability coverage is important because it provides for compensation for injuries to people and fixing damage to property which you are responsible for. Liability can be for bodily injuries to the other driver and/or property damage for the other vehicle. The coverage may or may not be adequate – see the next two paragraphs. What does bodily injury cover? Or asked differently, does it cover me for my injuries? The answer is no – bodily injury coverage is for the other driver not for you. Unfortunately this is a big mis-conception. What does it mean to have property damage coverage of $ 20,000.00? Or asked differently, how much will my

insurance com-pany pay if I cause damage to another vehicle that results in a $ 25,000.00 repair bill? Your insurance company will only pay the $ 20,000, which leaves you responsible for the $ 5,000.00 difference. When buying a new car what coverage do I need? This partially depends on whether you are paying cash or financing the car. If you are financing, the lender may require you to have specific types and amounts of coverage. Every bank is different so please be sure to check with your bank. If you are paying cash for the car you will have more flexibility with your insurance.

Please take the time to look over your policy and make sure that you fully understand what you are and aren’t covered for. It is wise to look it over and understand it and maybe adjust the coverage before an accident and not pay for it after. The above legal article is general in nature. Every legal situation is different. Please be sure to seek to seek advice as need.

Microsoft, Nordstrom, Amazon.com and Starbucks are just a few of the companies headquartered in Seattle, Washington, The Emerald City. The city boasts a vibrant arts scene, iconic music venues and some of the freshest and delicious food on the west coast.

My first stop was a visit to the Seattle Art Museum, a magnificent building located in the heart of downtown. During my visit, the museum was gearing up to host some of its most prestigious exhibitions ever, most notably, Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Gainsborough: Treasures of Kenwood House, London. Within the neoclassical Kenwood House on the outskirts of London, resides a magnificent collection known as the Iveagh Bequest which includes masterpieces by Gainsborough, Hals, Rembrandt, Reynolds, Romney, Turner, Van Dyck, and many others.

Just a short walk from the Seattle Art Museum is Six Seven Restaurant, a glorious ocean-front restaurant offering the freshest seafood in the city. I opted to try the Smoked Salmon as my starter. The melt-in-your-mouth salmon was the most delicious I’ve ever tasted and was actually caught earlier that morning.

After a bountiful dinner, check in to the luxurious Hotel Monaco, a boutique hotel featuring modern furnishings and décor, plush linens, evening turndown service and complimentary wireless Internet. The Kimpton property offers a hosted wine reception daily in their lobby as well as a 24-hour fitness and business center.

Begin your next day with a visit to Pike Place Market, a public market overlooking the Seattle waterfront. Opened in 1907, the market is one of the oldest public farmers' markets in the United States. It is a place of business for many fisherman, farmers, and merchants. Named after the central street, Pike Place, it is one of city’s most popular tourist destinations. While there, be sure to sample some homemade chowder from one of many bustling cafes.

Music enthusiasts should be sure to visit Experience Music Project (EMP).

The Frank Gehry-designed masterpiece is truly remarkable and hosts a variety of music-related exhibits. The Harley-Davidson Museum in partner-ship with EMP are currently presenting Worn To Be Wild: The Black Leather Jacket, a dynamic exhibit that traces the path of the leather motorcycle jacket.

Adjacent to the Space Needle is Chihuly Garden and Glass, a celebration of Seattle glass sculptor, Dale Chihuly. The Exhibition Hall contains eight galleries and three Drawing Walls, offering visitors a comprehensive look at Chihuly’s significant works. The Glasshouse presents a suspended 1,400-piece, 100-foot-long sculpture and the Garden is a backdrop for four other monumental pieces. This venue is a must-see for art lovers.

For dinner, head to Capitol Hill, Seattle’s gay neighborhood, and visit any one of dozens of gay-owned establishments along Broadway. I recommend The Grill on Broadway, known for the best Sunday brunch in town. Mimosas With Mama takes place every Sunday and features some of the best drag performers in town.

Visitors looking for a bit of old-world tradition should stay at the Mayflower Hotel. Built in 1927, the property has been restored with crystal chandeliers, gleaming brass and period antiques that offer a uniquely European elegance. Conveniently located to all major Seattle attractions, guestrooms at the Mayflower are beautifully appointed in classic color schemes with custom comforters, drapes and artwork designed and tailored for each hotel room. The hotel also boasts one of the city’s best restaurants, Andaluca.

Spend your last night in Seattle by visiting any one of the city’s famous LGBT nightspots. Favorites among neighborhood gays include R Place, Neighbors and Q, an ultra-modern dance music venue featuring sleek designs, specialty cocktails, a bourbon lounge and four disco balls to keep the party going all night long.
