Presentation brief:

The online Becta self review framework, SRF, is being simplified. It has proved to be an excellent way of enabling schools to make strides in the development of their ICT. The SRF appears a daunting process to go through but there are ways to make it easier. This presentation will demonstrate the new materials, ways to make the process less laborious and how best to strive for the ICT Mark. For schools who wish to go beyond the ICT Mark, what are the hallmarks of ICT Excellence?

The SRF .. What it’s all about?

“SRF isn’t just about ICT and, interestingly, that is a key factor of its success. It

focuses the mind on the whole spectrum of school development.”

Steve Gator – Headteacher, Walker Technology College

• SRF too long• A lot of repetition across elements• Too wordy• Look at ICT Mark threshold levels

– Some levels need to be more challenging

• Some large steps between levels• New educational initiatives and technologies• The tool could be more user friendly

If a school intends to be assessed for the ICT Mark by 31 October 2010, and wishes to continue using the existing framework, they will be allowed access to the current framework via a separate link. We would like to stress that this will only be available to those schools who are applying for assessment by the 31 October 2010. Any data added to the current framework by the school after the original migration will not be copied to the revised framework. Schools will be responsible for manually entering this data themselves.
