CITY OF VIRGINIA BEACH LASKIN ROAD GATEWAY PUBLIC MEETING COMMENTS, September 7, 2010 1. Remove stop signs along Laskin and put them on Arctic Road. This will allow for a more pedestrian friendly environment. 2. Second Bridge along Pinewood needs to be reconstructed. 3. While drudging, boats will still have access to their slips. This needs to be communicated to home owner association. 4. Pinewood sign is missing at 32 nd Street, and needs to be replaced. 5. Phase 4 is not needed. 6. Example of a modern roundabout exists in Portsmouth, VA. 7. Little Neck Creek runoff 8. We need to have an above ground BMP. 9. Need to review storm model. 10. Outfall of stormwater into Little Neck Creek needs to be addressed. 11. Need pedestrian sign at Arctic Road/Laskin Road. Need advanced pedestrian sign to cross Arctic/Laskin. 12. Estimated speed of roundabout is 10-15 mph. 13. Tide is rising in area and land is sinking. Project addresses that by being 2 feet above standard. 14. Two separate 6’x6’ box culverts under Laskin Road need to be bigger at 31 st Street. 15. Total project cost is $33.2 million. Phase 4 cost $10 million. 16. What is the traffic control going to be at 32 nd Street and Pinewood? It’s going to be stop controlled. 17. Why didn’t they widen sidewalk along 32 nd Street? Not widened do to right-of-way constraints. 18. Is left turn into 32 nd Street is allowed from Pinewood? Yes, it is allowed. 19. How does westbound traffic on 30 th Street go into the roundabout? 20. The boat slips will be removed along the parcel along the roundabout. 21. Laskin need to be maintained around 32 nd Street. 22. Farm Fresh needs to have a stop sign south at 30 th Street. 23. Pedestrian sight distance issue at southbound/eastbound at 30 th /Baltic Avenue. 24. Harris Teeter needs to put sign at driveway. 25. Sight distance issue at 32 nd /Arctic. 26. People hitting bulb cuts that delineate on-street parking. 27. Detour signs need to be more permanent.
