City of Portsmouth Praises Society at Plaque Unveiling Ceremony June 1, 2019
John L Rowe, Jr as Mayor of Portsmouth, VA in a proclamation from his office gives special appreciation
to the War of 1812 Society in the Commonwealth of Virginia for honoring fourteen War of 1812
veterans interred in the Trinity Episcopal Church cemetery. The names along with eleven Revolutionary
War patriot are on a plaque unveiled that is mounted on the entrance wall to the church.
Shown above is Mayor Rowe and below the unveiled plaque. His proclamation claimed June 1, 2019 “A
Day of Celebration and Grateful Remembrance”
