Repairs were made to the highway slope in order to re-open Highway 13. The repairs to the trail are sll forthcoming. Big Rivers Regional Trail Remains Closed

Due to a mudslide along the Big Rivers Regional Trail between Mendota

and Lilydale, the trail has been closed since early June. Repairs were

made to the highway slope in order to re-open Highway 13. The repairs

to the trail are still forthcoming. Barricades and signs are in place, and no

travel is permitted on this section of the trail. A retaining wall is expected

to be constructed in September with an anticipated completion in

October, weather permitting.

Rubber ducks can be “adopted” for $5 each. Ducks will compete in

a series of races on the signature duck chute course. Over $5,000

worth of prizes for winning ducks. This family-fun event will also

feature duck-themed games, crafts, and more.

The Mendota Heights Police Department wants to help you keep your property safe while you are away. Whether you are gone for a few days or a

few months, the MHPD offers house checks.

To list your property and needs go to the City of Mendota Heights’s web-site at www.mendota-heights.com. On the main page, left side, select

Online Interactive Forms, Police On-Line Forms, then House Check Request. You may also pick up a form at the police station located at 1101 Victoria Curve in Mendota Heights, or by calling (651) 452-1366. There is no fee for this service.

It just got easier to properly dispose of unwanted household

chemicals and hazardous waste at Dakota County’s Recycling

Zone. Drop-off hours for hazardous items have expanded at The

Recycling Zone, 3365 Dodd Road, Eagan, to better fit your

schedule. With the exception of holidays, residents can now

drop off hazardous wastes on the following days:

Wednesday: 9 a.m.–8 p.m. Thursday: Noon–8 p.m. Friday: 9 a.m.–5 p.m. Saturday: 8 a.m.–5 p.m.

County residents can bring everything from leftover paint to

yard chemicals to fluorescent bulbs for free recycling. And the

recycling possibilities don’t stop there. Residents can also drop

off unwanted or broken televisions, computers, printers, small

household electronics like toasters, vacuums and coffee makers

for free recycling. Proper disposal of the waste protects the

environment and public health.

Lilydaze Photo Contest

CONTEST DETAILS:

Awards will be given to first, second, and third place in each category. Winners will be selected by a judge.

People’s Choice Award will be given to first, second, and third place overall. Encourage your friends and neighbors to vote.

Participants must submit their high quality photo in the 8x10 size mounted on foam board along with a digital submission of a jpeg or pdf of your photo(s) on a flash drive or CD (300 dpi). Please note: we will be adhering a “hanging device” of hot glue and string to the back of your photo for display purposes.

Contest is open to Lilydale area residents and each participant can enter up to two 8x10 photos in three different categories.

Photos previously entered in the Lilydaze Photo Contest are not eligible.

Entrants agree entered photos (with proper credit) can be published or displayed at no cost to the City of Lilydale.

Photos will be displayed and judged September 16-19 at the Lilydale Garden Center (941 Sibley Memorial Hwy.)

PHOTO SUBMISSION:

Photos can be dropped off at the Lilydale City Hall, 1011 Sibley Memorial Hwy., Lilydale, MN 55118, Monday - Friday 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
