Harvey Johnson, Jr., Mayor
Dear Resident, The City of Jackson is pleased to offer residents many recycling and waste disposal options. Please take a few minutes to acquaint yourself with these benefits. The City’s solid waste contractor, Waste Management of Mississippi, Inc., provides residential waste collection twice a week. During the first collection day, we ask that you put out household garbage only. On the second collection day, you can place out household garbage plus two large bulky item (i.e. furniture and mattresses). Limbs and leaves also are collected on the second collection day, but must be in compliance with city ordinances (see below).
The City of Jackson is “Going Green,” and we hope you participate by recycling your waste. If you would like to start recycling in your home, a recycling bin, schedule and instructions are available at the Solid Waste Division Office.
This leaflet features additional disposal and recycling services offered by the City of Jackson, which is included in the cost on your bi-monthly water bill.
If you have any questions or need assistance at any time, please call the Solid Waste Division at 601-960-0000. We look forward to serving you!
