Certificates of Appropriateness

8 Elizabeth Street- Mr. and Mrs. Jeffery Mead

Mr. Jeffery Mead presents the Certificate of Appropriateness. The proposed application is to tear off the existing deteriorated asphalt shingle roof on the detached garage. The asphalt shingles on the garage are dark grey. The applicant brought examples and presented to the board. The proposed shingles are grey / blue which would blend in with the house roof. It would be a complete tear off.

Motion to accept the Certificate of Appropriateness for 8 Elizabeth Street as presented made by Linda Frank, second by Ed Onori. All in favor. None opposed. Motion carried.

88 South Street- Altisource

The property manager was not able to make it to tonight’s meeting. Christina Selvek introduces the Certificate of Appropriateness for 88 South Street that was tabled from the last meeting. Christina discusses the correspondence she has had with property manager. There was an emergency C of A issued on February 2, 2018 to address some of the areas that have has significant water damage.

The second floor door is a French door. They appear to be one over ones, lightly framed and solid wood. They look as if they are outer doors that may have had an inner door system. Photos showed damaged wood that they claimed are not repairable. Altisource provided a description of a proposed door but did not provide pictures or manufactured specs. The proposal is to replace with a fiberglass door. Discussion of the current quality of the door takes place and it is agreed that the door has significant deterioration. Board members would like the French doors to be replaced with comparable wood doors. Christina will recommend wood French doors with a one over one to the applicant.

The second floor porch floor is tin. Discussion takes place. The Board is fine with a tin or copper porch floor as long as the floor repaired.

Christina asks the Board if they would like to move forward with an approval on the roof. The Board requests a full list of materials at the next Board meeting, including a spec sheet for the proposed French doors.

Page 4: CITY OF AUBURN, NEW YORK - … · 4.a. 3 Fitch Avenue- Osborne Library Discussion of City of Auburn Repair/ Demolish Order. 4.b. National Historic Preservation Month Discussion and

Motion to table the Certificate of Appropriateness for 88 South Street made by Andrew Roblee, second by Paul McDonald. All in favor. None opposed. Motion carried.
