Pool Naming RightsJune 19, 2012
Proposed Pool Naming Rights• Payment: $56,000 (Annually $7,000, 8-year term)• Contract terms: Love Family would like family season
pass for them and their 4 kids. Family would also like 2 private parties.
• Some signage around the pool and at entrance, and referenced by CoSA with incorporation of the name “Love.”
• Recommendations: Recreation Advisory Board approved proposal 3-2 and preferred name of “Love Municipal Pool.” Staff recommends approval and prefers “Love Pool.”
Proposed Pool Naming Rights• Signage relatively small – largest at 3 feet in diameter. • TBSC got $60K over 6 years, Foster Communications
Coliseum $200K over 10 years. Both are open and used year-round. Pool open only 3 months each year. Given that – and that capacity is much smaller than TBSC or Coliseum – $56K seems fair.
• City would have to sell 910 daily passes to equal $4,550 – CoSA’s annual share.
Proposed Pool Naming Rights• Pool operates more as an enterprise fund and needs
to generate as much revenue as possible to support itself without relying upon tax dollars.
• Another naming rights alternative is to place a corporate name on it.
Proposed Pool Naming RightsLove family bio:• The Kevin and Kara Love family are third-generation
farmers of peanuts and cotton. Largest peanut producers in Texas over past 5 years.
• Eight years ago, they expanded into deer breeding. • Decided few years back to make San Angelo their
home. Interested in naming the pool as a way to contribute to the community they "love."
