Meeting Minutes Proceedings:

1. Roll Call:

Commissioner Arellano called the meeting to order at 10:47 a.m.

Present: Joseph Arellano, Leif Dautch and Gabe Harp

Others Present: Allen Nance, Chief Probation Officer; Eric Ugalde, Finance Director; and

Sandra Dalida, Deputy Director of Administration.

3. Review and Approval of Finance Committee Minutes of March 7, 2016 (ACTION ITEM)

Motion to approve the Finance Committee meeting minutes of March 7, 2016 by

Commissioner Harp; second by Commissioner Arellano.

AYES: 3. Arellano; Dautch; and Harp. Minutes approved.

No public comments.

4. Presentation on JPD’s FY 2017-2018 and FY 2018-2019 Budget by Eric Ugalde, Finance

Director (DISCUSSION ONLY) Chief Nance introduced Sandra Dalida, Deputy Director of Administrative Services.

The discussion summarized the Mayor’s budget instructions: 3% budget cut per fiscal year

(FY 2018-2019 & FY 2018-2019), totaling a 6% budget cut over the next two years. Mr.

Ugalde discussed JPD’s mission; organization structure; Five Year Plan; and financials (see

supporting document at: http://sfgov.org/juvprobation/meetings/10).

JPD’s full budget will be presented at the February 8, 2017 Full Commission meeting. The

Committee recommended writing a letter to the Mayor in support of JPD’s budget to be

addressed at the March 8, 2017 Full Commission meeting.

5. Recommendation of FY 2017-2018 and FY 2018-2019 Budget Presentation to the Full

Commission (DISCUSSION AND ACTION ITEM)

Motion to recommend the FY 2017-2018 and FY 2018-2019 Budget Presentation to the Full

Commission by President Arellano, second by Commissioner Dautch, to include further

information on three items: overall city snapshot/budget picture; outline of the $2.1

million cut in federal funds; and the camera installation.

AYES: 3. Arellano; Dautch; and Harp. Approved.

No public comments.

6. Commissioner Arellano adjourned the meeting at 12:17 p.m.
