Attorneys’ Bios  William A. Tuthill III – City and County Attorney Bill graduated from Harvard Law School in 1982. He has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Northwestern University, both in political science. He was law clerk to the Hon. Clarence A. Brimmer, Jr., Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the District of Wyoming. He spent five years in private practice in downtown Denver, doing litigation work. After teaching at the Univ. of Puget Sound School of Law, he was hired as the principal litigation attorney in the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office, where he worked for 15 years – the last three of which he was County Attorney. He was appointed as the Broomfield City and County Attorney in 2005.           Pat Gilbert – Deputy City and County Attorney Pat is a graduate of the University of Colorado School of law.  She received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Northwestern University and then worked for Arthur Anderson consulting.  After graduating law school, she clerked for the Hon. Edward W. Nottingham in the United States District Court for the District of Colorado and then worked as a litigation associate in a private law firm in downtown Denver for two years.  She spent 20 years with the Jefferson County Attorney’s Office, where she became lead litigation attorney and developed an expertise in employment law.  She began her position as Deputy City and County Attorney in March 2015.  

Amy Naes – Senior Assistant City and County AttorneyAmy attended the University of Denver School of law after receiving a B.A. in international affairs from the University of Colorado.  She served as the Executive Director of Denver CASA and as the Family Court Facilitator in the Jefferson County Courts before coming to Broomfield. Amy was the law clerk to the Hon. Dana Wakefield, Chief Judge of the Denver Juvenile Court and spent nine years working as a Special Assistant Attorney General handling criminal appeals in the Colorado Court of Appeals and the Colorado Supreme Court. She started with Broomfield in 2004 and is the primary attorney doing work for the Human Services Department.   Erika Delaney Lew – Senior Assistant City and County Attorney Erika graduated from the University of Denver law school. She also received her master’s degree in public policy from the Univ. of Denver. In addition, she has both a B.S. in biology and a B.A. in anthropology from the University of Wyoming.  Prior to coming to Broomfield, she worked as a legal research associate for the Colorado Municipal League and then with the law firm of Light, Harrington, and Dawes, which specializes in municipal law. While there, she served as assistant City or Town attorney for various municipal clients, including doing the prosecution services for Firestone, Wiggins, Keenesburg, and Edgewater. She has been with the City and County Attorney’s Office since 2008. 

Karl Frundt – Senior Assistant City and County AttorneyKarl is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas school of law, which is located in Minneapolis. He has a B.S. in natural resources management from the University of Minnesota and a Professional Certificate in Conflict Resolution from the Univ. of Denver.  He worked in his family’s law practice, Frundt and Johnson, in Blue Earth, Minnesota before coming to Colorado. While practicing in Minnesota, he acted as City Attorney or Assistant City Attorney for a number of small municipalities, including Elmore, Delavan, Blue Earth, and Wells. He has worked in the City and County Attorney’s office in Broomfield since 2008.
