Cisco UCS Performance Manager 2.5.0 1New features

Cisco UCS Performance Manager 2.5.0 provides the following new features:

■ Upgrade path

In order to upgrade to version 2.5.0, you must start from version 2.0.1, 2.0.2 or 2.0.3. If you want to upgradefrom an earlier version, you first need to upgrade to version 2.0.3, then upgrade again to version 2.5.0. Formore information on the upgrade process, see the Cisco UCS Performance Manager Upgrade Guide.

■ Multi-host deployment communications security

In multi-host deployments, all communications among Control Center hosts are now authenticated. Duringan upgrade, all existing delegate hosts must install unique credentials, which are generated on the masterhost. The installation steps are included in the Cisco UCS Performance Manager Upgrade Guide.

■ Docker upgrade

This release replaces Docker 1.12.1 with Docker Community Edition (CE) 17.03.1. The update processhandles the change.

■ Appliance installation changes and new storage layout

Cisco UCS Performance Manager now has two appliances (one for the master host and one for the delegate). This has the advantage of a better storage layout so that the master is now split into 7 parts on separatevirtual disks while the delegate has a reduced storage footprint. The new storage format is only applicable tonew installs. Upgraded systems will still have the same storage layout as before the upgrade.

■ Emergency shutdown

Cisco UCS Performance Manager will automatically shutdown if storage space is predicted to fill up, whichavoids a full disk causing data corruption. The affected services are marked as having been emergencystopped and will not start again until this condition is cleared by the administrator. For more information, seethe Cisco UCS Performance Manager Administration Guide

■ Maintenance window performance

Improved performance by reducing the time it takes to change the production state on a large number ofdevices and devices with many components.

■ Rolling restart of services

Services with multiple instances will restart one at a time and will pull an image before stopping to minimizedowntime.

Notes and workarounds

ZEN-26898: Component count changes between versions 1.1.x and 2.x

The following component counts are changed between versions 1.1.x and 2.x:

■ Host Ethernet Interfaces

In version 1.x, servers that are in the Removed state are shown and reflected in the Host Ethernet Interfacescount. They are not counted in version 2.x.

■ Management Interfaces

Only Model Management interfaces for their IPs are modeled. The ../if-2 management interfaces areredundant and always have the same IP address as their */if-1 equivalent, so they can be ignored. SeeZEN-12112.

■ Aggregation Pools

Port Channels and Standalone ports are now shown.■ Service Profiles, Virtual NICs, Virtual HBAs

For service profiles, only instances are shown not templates. The Service Profile templates and relatedvHBAs and vNICs will be rejected on modeling. Only "instance" type service profiles are shown now. Thisaffects vHBAs and vNICs component counts. For more information, see ZEN-15556.

ZEN-27784: Default memory for master host might be insufficient

By default, the master host is deployed with 16GB of memory. For best performance, specify memory asfollows:

■ Single host environment: 64GB

Page 8: Cisco UCS Performance Manager Release Notes, Release 2.5 · Cisco UCS Performance Manager Release Notes contains important information about the current version of the ... Operating

■ Multi-host environment:

Master host: 16GBDelegate hosts: 32GB

CC-3541: Initial deployment might fail if host resources are not sufficient

The VMware host resources must be adequate to run Cisco UCS Performance Manager.

As a workaround, wait a few minutes and then try the deployment again.

Limitations, errata, and documentation AThis section includes the following information:

■ Known limitations of Cisco UCS Performance Manager■ Release-specific documentation errata, if any■ Descriptions of additional documentation

Additional information

All Cisco UCS Performance Manager distributions include PDF versions of the following documents:

■ Cisco UCS Performance Manager Installation Guide■ Cisco UCS Performance Manager Upgrade Guide■ Cisco UCS Performance Manager Migration Guide■ Cisco UCS Performance Manager Getting Started Guide■ Cisco UCS Performance Manager User Guide■ Cisco UCS Performance Manager Administration Guide

The documentation included in a release is in synch with the release. That is, instead of inserting errata intorelease notes, document errors are corrected, and the corrected documents are included in the upgrade orpatch release. Similarly, when a feature change or addition is included in an upgrade or patch release, thedocumentation is also updated.
