Self Monitoring

■ Cisco UCS Performance Manager provides self-monitoring of the application as well as its internal functions. It uses Control Center as its application management and orchestration system. The Control Center isautomatically added as managed resource within Cisco UCS Performance Manager so that you can see theinternal components and their performance data.

Public Endpoints

■ You can create a public endpoint for access to the Cisco UCS Performance Manager and Control Centerweb servers. Public endpoints can be vhosts, accessible by host name or port, accessible by ip:port orhostname:port. See the Cisco UCS Performance Manager Installation Guide.

Release 2.0.0 2Welcome to version 2.0.0! This release includes a new component, Control Center version 1.1.0; majorenhancements to Cisco UCS Performance Manager itself; and more than 1800 fixes. In support, this release alsoincludes several new documents. We hope you enjoy using Cisco UCS Performance Manager version 2!

New features

Architecture

■ Cisco UCS Performance Manager is now installed and managed from Control Center. The Control Center isbuilt on Docker, an open-source platform that uses virtual containers to simplify the packaging, installation andmanagement of applications. Control Center provides both a web-based user interface and the servicedcommand line option.

■ Cisco UCS Performance Manager daemons now run within individual, virtual Docker containers. Containers arelight-weight operating environments that contain everything required for an application to run.

■ Performance metrics are now stored in OpenTSDB and HBase instead of RRD Files.■ Log files are now collected by Logstash and stored in an ElasticSearch database for improved viewing and

searching.

Capacity planning

■ Capacity utilization graphs and views display projected utilization for 30, 60, and 90 Days.■ Cisco UCS Capacity Reports and new or existing graphs can now display a trendline.■ Capacity utilization is now available for VSphere.■ Reports can be filtered by port channel, physical server, or chassis.

Infrastructure interoperability

■ Dependency View provides a list of dependents and dependencies for the selected device.■ Port-to-port mapping information is available for uplink Fabric Interconnect to LAN Cloud.

Device support

■ Cisco UCS Mini and Cisco UCS Central are now supported.■ Nexus 9000 is supported, when the NX-API is enabled.

■ Service Profile Portlet■ Storage Capacity Portlet■ Network Capacity Portlet

■ Predefined UCS thresholds are provided by default.■ Port Channel Aggregation Pools can be viewed.■ The following organizational containers are now available:

■ Host groups■ Integrated infrastructure groups■ Component groups

■ Events can be viewed at the container level.■ Metric collection intervals can be configured by UCS domain.

Self Monitoring

■ Ability to monitor Control Center.

Support for LDAP/AD

■ Ability to log in to Cisco UCS Performance Manager using LDAP/AD domain credentials.

Licensing

■ A grace period allows you to configure the product while waiting for the license.■ Ability to upload multiple licenses at a time.

Scalability

■ Support for up to 2,500 UCS servers and their associated networking and storage from a single UCS PMinstance.

Limitations, errata, and documentation

9

Limitations, errata, and documentation AThis section includes the following information:

■ Known limitations of Cisco UCS Performance Manager■ Release-specific documentation errata, if any■ Descriptions of additional documentation

Limitations(ZEN-23802) A new install of the ISO appliance does not have the same kernel version as the OVA appliance. Fora new install of the ISO appliance, you need to perform the following command as a root user to get the latestkernel version: yum -y update or yum -y update kernel

(ZEN-15907) The size of the CentralQuery maximum memory allocation pool is set by the RAMCommitmentvariable in the CentralQuery service definition. The default value is 1024MB. Do not change the value to anythingless than 1024MB.

Additional informationAll Cisco UCS Performance Manager distributions include PDF versions of the following documents:

■ Cisco UCS Performance Manager Installation Guide■ Cisco UCS Performance Manager Migration Guide■ Cisco UCS Performance Manager Getting Started Guide■ Cisco UCS Performance Manager User Guide■ Cisco UCS Performance Manager Administration Guide

Likewise, all releases of Control Center include an HTML version of its documentation.

The documentation included in a release is in synch with the release. That is, instead of inserting errata into releasenotes, document errors are corrected, and the corrected documents are included in the upgrade or patch release.Similarly, when a feature change or addition is included in an upgrade or patch release, the documentation isupdated, too.
