TheatherWhen the first civilizations began to emerge in our country, the theater took a little more so, probably now was given a special place where carried out, but equally would have a religious purpose, far from being simply an activity of entertainment. When these "works" took place, mostly text was read by two or more people, representing some other gods and men. There is a Maya dramatic text called "Rabinal Achi" posed by the fight between two warriors divine. Music was required, special clothing and an early form of action to take place.

Page 24: cinema, theater and music

The theater was perhaps more important than the others, a strong tool that they used the Spanish to evangelize the Indians in our country. By presenting playssimple life of Jesus Christ, his Passion and Death. Many of the readings found in the New Testament were represented in varying degrees for easy understanding. The familiar "pastorals" today are the result of those early times, where they usedvery simple but adequate clothing, musical also quite simply, singing, dancing and acting happy. A century this practice lasted only evangelizing.

Page 25: cinema, theater and music

The theater in Mexico was severely stunned by all that Independence meant. Thewidespread discontent across the country put the ideas and creativity elsewhere, and places to conduct theater were not abundant. The country fell into a pothole of culture, but won the prize most coveted by human beings: freedom.

When everything came to a calm breathing now at least, things returned to relative normalcy, and the writing began to flow. Then stood romantic authors like Fernando Calderon and Manuel Eduardo de Gorostiza. For these times in Mexico created the concept of "zarzuela" and many works continued under that standard. Became one of the most popular forms of theater then.

Page 26: cinema, theater and music

In 1925 he formed the Union of Dramatic Authors, which aimed to give lectures, talks and generally promote the culture of theater in Mexico. Diaz Manuel Barroso would be the owner of this organism. The public works such as "Conquer yourself Yourself" and later, Diaz Barroso and 6 of its employees would end upbeing called "The Group of Seven Authors." There were other such groups, such as "School of Theater," "Ulysses Theatre" and "Orientation Theater."

Page 27: cinema, theater and music

By 1950, the university theater became a reality, thanks to names like Villaurrutia, Novo, Usigli and Gorostiza. Works like "Crown of Shadow", "Halftone" and "gesticulating" give the necessary push at all levels to race Dramatic Literature and Theater was established in the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the National Autonomous University of Mexico .

Note the importance of two internationally renowned festivals in our country wherethe theater is cornerstone: the Festival of Mexico City, and the Cervantes Festival Guanajuato. Currently the theater is presented in semi-professional level for many universities in the country, one of the entire Institute of Technology and Higher Studies of Monterrey (ITESM), with centers of Cultural Campus in many different cities Mexico.
