THE GERTRUDE EDELMAN AWARD

The Gertrude Edelman Award for the outstanding graduate of the Medical Record Technician Program will be presented this afternoon for the first time. This award was established by the Board of Trustees of Cincinnati Technical College upon the death of Miss Edelman in 1974.

Gertrude Edelman was a nationally known and respected pioneer in the Medical Record Field.

She was one of the first Registered Medical Record Administrators in the nation and one of the founders of the American Medical Record Association.

During her lifetime, she helped to establish medical record departments in hospitals in Cincinnati, in Ohio and elsewhere in the nation.

She helped to establish the Ohio Medical Record Association and served as its first president.

In 1970, she helped to establish our Medical Record Technician Program at Cincinnati Technical College.

She served this program as thoughtful advisor, dedicated instructor and energetic coordinator.

The Medical Record Technician Program was the first of its kind in Ohio to be approved by the American Medical Association in large ~easure be­cause of her efforts.

The award is presented to that graduate of each Medical Record Technician class who best ex­emplifies Gertrude Edelman's selfless dedication to the Medical Record field.

The award will be presented by Mrs. Bernard Frankel, Miss Edelman's sister.
