• CIGRE B5 Colloquium,

• CIGRE Administrative Council (AC) meeting

• CIGRE Asia-Oceania Regional Council (AORC) technical meeting.

transmission and distribution owners, system operators, policy makers, regulators and researchers

across the globe to share and discuss the current practices and future directions for the secure and

efficient delivery of energy.

CIGRE AORC TECHNICAL MEETING: The Asia-Oceania Regional Council of CIGRE (AORC-CIGRE)

was formed in 2000 to coordinate and promote CIGRE activities in the Asia-Oceania region and foster

closer technical cooperation among the member countries. Its member countries are Australia, China,

Gulf cooperative council, India, Indonesia, Iran, Jordan, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand and

Thailand. There are also other Observer Members countries from the region like Jordan, Taiwan, Macau,

Hong Kong, Cambodia etc. Call for paper has been released and we expect 60-80 papers being

presented in parallel oral and poster sessions at the AORC technical meeting.

CIGRE B5 COLLOQIUM: CIGRE B5 is highly specialized study committee consisting of protection and

automation experts from Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Finland, France,

Germany, Great Britain, Ireland, Italy, India, Japan, Korea, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Russia,

South Africa, Spain, Sweden Switzerland, Usa, Algeria, Austria, Saudi Arabia, Czech Republic,

Denmark, Egypt , Greece, Israel, Mexico, Macedonia, New Zealand, Poland, Romania, Slovenia,

Thailand, and Venezuela. We have received around 80 abstracts that have been invited for full paper to

be presented during 3 preferential subjects. Tutorials will also be presented.

CIGRE ADMINISTRATIVE COUNCIL MEETING: CIGRE AC consists of industry leaders from across

the globe. This includes the President of CIGRE, a representative of each National Committee (NC),the

Chairman of the Technical Council, the Treasurer, the President of IEC (International Electrotechnical

Commission) and previous Presidents of CIGRE. We expect around 65-80 members for CIGRE

administrative Council meeting.

REFLECTION ON CIGRE 2013

Some of the key data from the CIGRE symposium held at Auckland in 2013:

• 350 people attended from across 35 countries

• Four keynote presentations: from Mark Waldron (TC Chairman), Dr. Patrick Strange (CEO

Transpower NZ Ltd.), Greg Skelton (CEO Wellington Electricity), and Konstantin Papailiou (SCB2

Chairman),

• 120 papers were presented over one and a half days in four streams based on the different SC

focus

• A magnificent Symposium Dinner attended by over 200 people

Following the positive feedback from the delegates, as well as eagerness of the power system industry

experts to meet in Auckland in 2017, we have secured a bigger venue which will cater for more

delegates as well as addition of an trade exhibition happening in parallel. A grand banquet dinner is

arranged for all the delegates attending the three events thus making it one of the largest networking

platforms for power system industry experts and leaders in the Asia-Oceania region.

CIGRE Auckland 2017 will take place from Monday, 11 September to Friday, 15 September 2017.

Trade exhibition, CIGRE Women in Engineering, CIGRE New Generation Network forum, local

industry visits, networking social events are all planned to enrich the delegates experience. This is a
