Midway Christian Youth wish to invite the community to our dinner theatre on July 31st. Come see what has happened and try to figure out “who done it,” as clues are revealed. This is a fundraiser for the youth, by the youth, and all are invited to attend. Bring friends. Reservations are requested, but not needed. Donations are appreciated, but no price will be set.

Handbell Retreat - Date Pending
If you’ve ever thought about joining the handbell choir, try it out at the Handbell Retreat this fall. SueLou Smith, Choir Director from First Christian in Lawrenceburg, will be leading this retreat covering ringing techniques, care and maintenance of handbells, and pieces to practice. The previously reported date of September 10th did not work out. We’ll keep you posted on the date that SueLou can come!

Adult Mission Experience
October 23-29, Slidell, Louisiana
Contact Mike McColl (859-361-2679) for more information about this adult mission opportunity helping repair and rebuild homes in the Northshore Disaster Recovery district.
You will stay in a bunk-house style dorm with twin beds, and most meals will be provided. You will work Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, and a half-day on Wednesday. On Wednesday after-noon, you will tour the 9th ward of New Orleans, explore the French Quarter, and eat dinner down-town.
Cost is $330 and includes transportation (bus), lodging, a tee-shirt, and meals (minus travel days and Wednesday dinner out).

This is the third in the six-part Elmwood Stock Farm Day-time Tour Series, which is designed to educate you on how food gets from the farm to your plate. The event will include a tour of Elmwood Stock Farm’s vegetable and livestock areas, as seeing firsthand how USDA certified organic crops and animals are raised will offer a better understanding of these labels. Guests will also learn about genetically-modified food-labeling laws (one going into effect in July affects us all) and the changes you might see in the years to come.

Free Yale Online Classes in Cosmology & Ecology In September, Yale University will teach three six-week on-line courses. These will be featured as a cluster of courses (a "specialization") under the theme of "Cosmology and Ecology." This will include two courses on “Journey of the Universe” and a course on the “Worldview of Thomas Berry.” These are available on Coursera and free to anyone, anywhere on the planet.

There will be no monthly mission payments in July or August. The total of the mission payments is the same (see the insert for the Approved 2016-17 Budget), but it has been re-distributed over ten months instead of twelve, for the sake of a more balanced monthly budget!
