Novemberthisyearwillseesomespecialeventsinourchurchlife.St.John’sishostingDiocesanConventionatthebeginningof

themonth.Beyondgreeting,directing,registeringguests,sharingaDaffin’sCandyBar,andprovidingdirectionstoReyer’sshoestore,wealsohavetheprivilegeofhosting150-200peoplefromtheDioceseforaConventionEucharistonFriday,November7at5:00pm.Allareinvitedaswepraytogether,singtogether,andcometothealtarwithourbrothersandsistersfromthroughouttheDiocese.

WearealsointhemidstofourBelieve and PrepareCapitalCampaign.Wehadanexcitingkick-offdinner,andateamfromtheparishisnowcontactingasmanypeopleastheycan.Laterthismonthamailingwillbesentout,aswell.Ifyouhavequestions,orwouldliketohavesomeonevisityouwithmoreinformation,pleasecontacttheofficeandourBelieve and Preparecommitteewillgiveyouacall.Inthemeantime,pleaseprayforthecampaignandaboutyourownparticipation.Thiscampaignisanimportantopportunityforustotakecareofourbuilding,sowecancontinuetofillitwithministriesthatworshipGod,careforpeople,andhelpusgrowasChristians.

AlsoworthputtingonyourcalendarsistheEpiscopalChurchWomen’sSt.John’sWinterfestonDecember6.Thefocuswillchangeabitfromthe3C’s,withnewofferingsandopportunitiesforparticipationbythelargerparish.

Kitchen Reminder: Whenever your group/committee uses the kitchen(s), please make sure that all dishes are washed and put away, sinks cleaned out, counters/stove, microwave, etc. cleaned along with the floor being swept (mopped if needed), trash removed and towels are taken home, washed, and returned in a timely manner. Believe and Prepare: Our Capital Campaign

Wearenowinfullswingofthecapitalcampaign–aimingtoraise$350,000dollarsforRepairs,MaintenanceandImprovements.Thekick-offdinnerheldonSunday,October19thwasagreatsuccessduetoallthefantasticworkofourdedicatedvolunteers.Anditwasfuntoo!Westartedoffwithawalkingtourtoseeforourselveswhatworkisneeded,thengatheredinsidefordinner.AllenHallglowedinthecolorsoftheseasonandwehadamouthwateringmeal...noneedtoask“Where’stheBeef?”thatday!Ouryoungpeopleperformedanentertainingskitandwesawaninformativevideo.

Checkoutthecampaignnewsintheloungeaswemoveforward.IfyoumissedthewalkingtouronOctober19th,handoutsforaself-guidedwalkingtourareavailablethere.Wehavebeguntogatherpledgesandeveryoneisbeinginvitedtomeetwithoneofourteamstoreviewthecampaignplanandcompleteapledgecard.PleasecontinuetokeepSt.John’sandthiscampaigninyourprayers.

ThemembersofAltarGuildpreparethehostandwineforcommunion,changethealtarhangings,markthelessonstoberead,andlayoutFr.Adam’svestmentsforSundayandThursdayservices.Wealsopreparecommunionanddressthealtarforweddingsandfunerals,andmakesureFr.Adamhaseverythingheneedstoperformabaptism.

Forme,preparingthealtarforworshipishelpingmyfellowparishioners.WeministerbypreparingEucharistandalsobydressingthealtarforweddingsandfunerals.IalsoliketothinkwehelpFr.Adam,Randy,andtheEucharisticministersbyhavingallthedetailstakencareofsotheycanconcentrateonministeringtothepeopleofSt.John’s.

AltarGuildhasbeenthecalmandpeacefulministryIneededinmybusylife.Ilikebeinginthechurchandhavinganopportunitytopray,contemplate,orjustsitquietlyandlookatthestainedglass.Ilookforwardtothe3-4timesayearthatIamscheduledtobeanAltarGuildvolunteer.
