The St. John-Visitation Parish Pastoral Center The parish and religious education offices have moved to 275 West 230th Street, the former location of the St. Joseph's Cursillo Center/old St. John's Convent.   While the parish business office will remain at the rectory, most of our parish's services, activities, and operations will now take place at the St. John‐Visitation Parish Pastoral Center.  The hours for this week (Tuesday‐Friday) will be from 9:00 am‐12:00 noon and 1:00‐7:00 pm. Please note the change in location. 

Meeting Space Requests   Parish organizations, groups, and societies who would like to schedule meetings are asked to go to the St. John‐Visitation Parish Pastoral Center to submit request forms.  The additional meeting space at the parish center will hopefully alleviate past problems of limited availability. 

Monday’s Schedule   In observance of the Labor Day holiday on Monday September 7th, the parish pastoral center and office will be closed and the only Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 AM.  

Parish Religious Education Program Begins This Month

  Classes for children whose families wish to attend religious instruction in the St. John‐Visitation School of Religion begin this month. If your family has not already registered for classes, please contact Ms. Jeanette Guzman (718)884‐2627 or guzmancre@yahoo.com. Classes are offered for children from Grade 1 through High School.

Flea Market Next Saturday   After a hiatus for the summer months, the monthly Flea Market returns this coming Saturday September 5th at the Godwin Terrace School location from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Join us for bargain buys, hidden treasures, good food, and meeting our local area neighbors. 

Papal Tickets    Cardinal Dolan indicated in a memo   that parishes will be receiving a limited number of tickets for the papal Mass at Madison Square Garden on Friday September 25th. At this time, we are still awaiting further details. When this information becomes known, our parish will communicate the availability of papal tickets. 

Location For Next Weekend's Parish Masses   Unless there is extreme heat, we will be celebrating our parish Masses in the upper church next weekend (September 12‐13).  The availability and comfort of air‐conditioning in the lower church has been welcomed during the summer months of heat and humidity.  Your generosity in supporting our parish's air conditioning collection is greatly appreciated. 

Remember to Check the Church Bulletin Boards Notices and flyers of local area upcoming events and activities, that are often not included in our parish bulletin due to space limitation, are posted on the church bulletin boards. You may wish to take the time to read them and perhaps something may interest you. 

Did You Know? The wood carving on the front of the altar in our parish's lower church depicts the symbols associated with the four evangelists.   The angel or divine man is for St. Matthew since his gospel teaches about the human nature of Christ and begins with Jesus' paternal genealogy. The winged lion is for St. Mark since his gospel informs us about the royal dignity of Christ and begins with "the voice of one crying out in the wilderness", suggesting the roar of the lion. The winged ox is for St. Luke since his gospel deals with sacrificial aspects of Christ's life and begins with a temple scene. The eagle is for St. John since his gospel reflects the divinity of Christ as descending from heaven and begins with the lofty prologue in which "the word became flesh". These four creatures have a biblical basis. They are mentioned in the prophecy of Ezekiel (1:5‐21; 10:20) and in the heavenly vision described in the Book of Revelation 4:6‐10. The second century Christian writer St. Irenaeus noted: "The lion signifies the royalty of Christ, the ox his priestly office, the man his incarnation, and the eagle the grace of the Holy Spirit. Prayer for the Year of Consecrated Life November 30, 2014‐February 2, 2016

El Centro Pastoral de la Parroquia San Juan-Visitación

  La parroquia y las oficinas de educación religiosa se han trasladado a 275 West de la calle 230th, la antigua ubicación del Centro de Cursillo Center. Mientras que la oficina de negocios parroquial permanecerá en la rectoría, la mayoría de los servicios, actividades y operaciones de nuestra parroquia ahora se llevará a cabo en el Centro Pastoral San Juan‐Visitación. El horario de esta semana (martes a viernes) serán de 9:00 am‐12:00 mediodía y 1: 00‐7: 00 PM. Por favor, tenga en cuenta el cambio de ubicación. 

Solicitudes Para El Espacio de Reuniones   Organizaciones parroquiales, los grupos y las sociedades que deseen programar reuniones se les pide que vaya a Centro Pastoral  de la Parroquia San Juan‐Visitación para enviar  formularios de solicitud. El espacio de reunión adicional en el centro parroquial se espera aliviar los problemas del pasado de disponibilidad limitada. 

Horario Para el Lunes   En observancia del Día del Trabajo, el Lunes 7 de septiembre, el centro pastoral de la parroquia y la oficina se cerrarán y la única misa se celebrará a las 9:00 AM. 

Programa de Educación Religiosa Comienza Este Mes

  Las clases para los niños y familias que deseen asistir a la instrucción religiosa en la Escuela de Religión de San Juan‐Visitación comienza este mes. Si su familia no lo ha inscrito para las clases, por favor comunicarse con la Sra Jeanette Guzmán (718)884‐2627 o guzmancre@yahoo.com Las clases se ofrecen para niños de 1er grado hasta la secundaria.

Mercado de las Pulgas el Próximo Sábado   Después de una pausa durante los meses del verano, el mercadillo mensual vuelve el próximo sábado 5 de septiembre en el Godwin Terraza ubicación de la Escuela de 9:00 a 4:00pm. Únase con nosotros para negociar compra, tesoros ocultos, buena comida, y a conocer nuestros vecinos local.  

Entradas Papales Cardenal Dolan indicó en una nota que las parroquias estarán recibiendo un número limitado de entradas para la misa papal en el Madison Square Garden el viernes 25 de septiembre. En este momento, todavía estamos esperando más detalles. Cuando esta información se da a conocer , nuestra parroquia se comunicará la disponibilidad de boletos papales.

Ubicación de las Misas Siguiente Fin de Semana   A menos que haya un calor extremo, estaremos celebrando las misas parroquiales de la iglesia superior próximo fin de semana (septiembre 12‐13). La disponibilidad y la comodidad del aire acondicionado en la iglesia inferior se ha acogido durante los meses de 

verano de calor y humedad. Su generosidad en el apoyo de la colección para el aire acondicionado de nuestra parroquia es muy apreciada.

  Avisos y folletos de la zona de los próximos eventos y actividades locales, que a menudo no están incluidos en nuestro boletín parroquial debido a la limitación de espacio, se publicarán en los tablones de anuncios de la iglesia. Es posible que desee tomar el tiempo para leerlos y tal vez algo que te puede interesar.
