During Advent, we will hear St. John the Baptist call us to “Prepare the Way of the Lord”. In addition to our regular Saturday schedule, Confessions will be heard after the Sunday morning Masses on November 30th, December 7th, December 14th and De-cember 21st.

We want to communicate with you and we are using a new, simple service called FLOCKNOTE. The Archdiocese has provided us with this tool so you can receive important updates from them, especially regarding “Making All Things New” as well as parish information via text message or email. It is totally free and your information is safe and secure. You can unsubscribe from updates at any time.

To subscribe for updates, visit our parish at: www.flocknote.com/stritachurch

or text stritachurch to 84576 from your mobile phone.

There is no charge for this service, but your carrier message and data rates may apply. View full terms and conditions at www.flocknote.com/txt.

It is a great opportunity for you to get plugged in to the many wonderful things we have going on at St. Rita’s Parish. Cardinal Dolan and the Archdiocese will also be able to send you periodic updates for important announcements.

In Baptism, we are reborn as children of God, made members of His Church, and heirs to the Kingdom of Heaven. Please welcome Declan Thomas O’Hara into St. Rita’s Parish Family who was Baptized in November.

St. Peter’s Cemetery has served the Catholic faith community for well over a century. As a response to the desire to pre-plan ones fi-nal arrangements, effective November 2014, St. Peter’s Cemetery will now offer families the op-portunity to purchase graves for future use. These future use graves will be limited to the graves available in Section R only (at the inter-section of Tyler Avenue and Clove Road). Oth-er sections of the cemetery will still be available for the immediate need of burial space. For individuals who prefer cremation, St. Peter’s Cemetery also offers cremation niches that can hold 2 standard sized urns. These niches are available in St. Peter’s Columbaria Garden for pre-need or immediate need. For more information, please call the cemetery office at 718-442-2363, Monday through Friday, 8am to12pm and 1pm to 3pm.

Parishioners are asked to join us in the main Church for our Sunday Masses. Our small chapel in the rear of the Church is used for early weekday Masses, but on the weekends it is in-tended as a cry room to help parents with very small children whose occasional noise might dis-tract from the Mass, or who need to walk around a bit during Mass in order to keep content. It is also preferable that parents with small children worship with us in the main Church when their children are calm and content enough to remain with them in the pew. Being with us in the main Church can be-come an education to small children to learn that they are a very important part of our parish fami-ly and that the Church is meant to be a quiet, prayerful and peaceful place.
