Board Book & Diaper Drive The annual Drive will be a “Board Book & Diaper Drive” sponsored by the Parish Life Committee and will be held the weekends of April 28 th , & 29 th and May 5 th & 6 th . This year, we will again be supporting The Westchester County Diaper Bank and the Early Head Start / Head Start Programs here in White Plains. Your donations to the Diaper Drive will benefit The Westchester County Diaper Bank, which will provide diapers at no cost as temporary assistance to families in need in Westchester County. Diapers are a basic need, not a luxury item. Diaper Need is a silent crisis with parents and caregivers often having to choose between food, rent or buying diapers. For this reason, the Junior League of Central Westchester (JLCW) opened the Westchester County Diaper Bank in partnership with the Westchester County Executive’s office and the Westchester County Department of Social Services. The JLCW operates the diaper bank and distributes the diapers through the Westchester County Department of Social Services. The JLCW through the Diaper Bank may also, on occasion, provide diapers for disaster relief efforts outside of the County as it sees fit. Your donations to the Book Drive will benefit The Early Head Start and Head Start programs which began in 1965, and was designed to give your children (ages infant to 5) a “head start” in early childhood development and education. These programs also strive to support parents in their role as the primary influence in their children’s lives. Head Start provides comprehensive education, health, and nutrition to low-income children and their families. All those who benefit from these programs qualify as recipients for federal poverty assistance. As special education funding becomes more limited, and our program needs become greater, they are in dire need of appropriate books for their disabled preschoolers. It would be a wonderful blessing if we could provide them with board books. These are durable (usually inexpensive) young child/toddler/baby books. The reason is that all of their students are speech and language delayed and require simple stories and/or concept books for comprehension. In addition, most of their students have fine and gross motor problems that restrict their ability to move smoothly. Board books are easy to understand, are easier for the children to turn the pages and they last much longer. Some good board book ideas: “Best Behavior Board Books Series (English and Spanish)” Fairytale and Self Esteem Board Books are other useful subjects. We are asking for donations of diapers (sizes 4-6) & wipes to support The Westchester County Diaper Bank. (Even opened packages and loose diapers will be accepted as long as they are in Ziploc bags) We are also asking for donations of Board Books (young child/toddler/baby books) for the Early Head Start / Head Start Programs of White Plains. *** NO TOYS OR STUFFED ANIMALS WILL BE ACCEPTED *** Please be generous! If you have any questions about the Board Book & Diaper Drive or items needed, please call Andrea at the rectory M-Th, 8am-2pm. Board Book & Diaper Drive

The annual Drive will be a “Board Book & Diaper Drive” sponsored by the Parish Life Committee and will be held the weekends of April 28th, & 29th and May 5th & 6th.

As special education funding becomes more limited, and our program needs become greater, they are in dire need of appropriate books for their disabled preschoolers. It would be a wonderful blessing if we could provide them with board books. These are durable (usually inexpensive) young child/toddler/baby books. Board Book y Diaper Drive
