Dear Friends, October is known as the month of the Holy Rosary. I have been blessed by accompanying many of you to pray the Rosary every evening during this month. We have been doing Facebook Live and allowing those who cannot be present with us to be connected through Facebook and to send their intentions. We have 3,050 views of the Rosary since we began. I really encourage you to not miss out the opportunity to be part of this Rosary prayer. I believe, we are the first parish in our area that uses Facebook to connect others to pray. If you would like to participate, search in Facebook Church of Saint Elizabeth. You can find also the link to sign up to have the Rosary in your house on Facebook and the website. As you heard on last weekend’s homily, the Angelus prayer is a kid friendly prayer that will help us to meditate during the day on the life of the Blessed Mother. This prayer allows us to be thankful for the gift of today. These are the whys we should pray the Angelus according to the Book Praying the Angelus by Jared Dees: 1. WE PRAY THE ANGELUS BECAUSE: The Angelus unites our family together. We can say that the Angelus is a kid friendly prayer: it is short and it does not take long for kids to memorize each part. The Angelus could be used as we drive to school or are we drive home.

2. WE PRAY THE ANGELUS BECAUSE: The angelus reminds us of God’s presence. As a devotion practiced each day at 6am, 12 noon, and 6pm; the Angelus always reminds us to pray.

3. WE PRAY THE ANGELUS BECAUSE: The words of the Angelus stick with us throughout the day.

4. WE PRAY THE ANGELUS BECAUSE: The angelus keeps us humble. How can you pray the Angelus and not become a humble servant like Mary–Mary and all of the saints?... through this dedication to humble service, we are open to God’s grace in our lives.”

5. Finally, based on today’s readings I can say that: WE PRAY THE ANGELUS BECAUSE: the Angelus is a prayer of thanksgiving. Mary inspires us to acknowledge God’s presence that comes to us when we open our eyes to a brand new day. I hope all of us can set up our phones to give us an alarm at 6am, or 12 noon, or 6pm to remind us to stop what we are doing and pray with the Angelus. May the Blessed Mother pray for all of us, our families and our sick parishioners.

Love you all, Fr. Carlos

NEWS AND EVENTS

NOTE FROM FR. STEPHEN: I want to thank everyone who has participated in Sharing God’s Blessings, the Archdiocese’s Annual Appeal. As of today, due to your generosity, we have received $106,533 in pledges which is 82.8% of our goal. This leaves us $22,102 short of our goal. If you have contributed to the Annual Appeal in the past, but have not yet done so this year, I ask you to consider if you are able to do so again. If you have not contributed in the past, I ask you to think about making a contribution. Even a $50 gift would help us to reach our goal. You can make a contribution online on the Archdio-cese of Newark’s website at www.rcan.org/sharing. If you do so, please select St. Elizabeth’s of Wyckoff as the designation par-ish. You can also pick up a contribution form at the kiosk in the Narthex. If you have any questions, please contact our Busi-ness Manager, Jack Polito, at 201-891-1122, extension 202. Thank you for taking the time to consider making a contribution.

Special Collection: Be Baptized and Sent—on Mission in the World! Today, World Mission Sunday, in this Extraordinary Missionary Month, we are called to personal encounter with Jesus Christ alive in the Church, and to offer, through this Eu-charistic celebration, our prayers and our generous financial support, through the Society for the Propagation of the Faith, to continue the mission of Jesus. Today we are “sent” out to witness to Mission in the world through our prayers and personal sacrifices for our brothers and sisters around the world. As little as…

• $25 helps support a catechist for a month in remote Latin America

• $75 provides for the work of religious Sisters caring for orphaned children in Africa

• $100 assists poor children in boarding schools in Asia

As always, your prayers are your most treasured gift to the Missions. Your prayers and financial help, offered today, WORLD MISSION SUNDAY, support mission priests, religious Sisters and Brothers, and lay catechists who are Christ’s witnesses to a world so in need of His healing, love, and peace.

Kidz Korner is in need of volunteers: Jesus loves the little children, and Kidz Korner brings Jesus to little children ages 2 1/2 to 5 years on Sundays during the 10:30 Mass. The commitment is easy; we follow the Wyckoff school calendar and work in teams so you don't need to be there every week. Volunteers arrive at 10:00 and leave 11:45 a.m. Please consider joining our team. It's a wonderful way to build commu-nity and share your gifts and love for Jesus and His little ones. For more information, please contact Donna at [email protected].

Please remember to pray for our active Service Members.

St. Martin’s Soup Kitchen: On Saturday, October 26th , we will be serving hot dogs (all beef, please) with potato Salad, and macaroni salad. Donations of hot dogs and rolls, bananas and apples are appreciated. If you can donate food, contact Peter Ingrasci at [email protected] or 201-493-0870. It would be very helpful for plan-ning if you could call by Tuesday, October 22nd.

Join the Gather the Children Liturgy Team:

The Gather the Children program is for children in grades K-5 and takes place during the 10:30 AM Sunday Mass. It is a special celebration of the Word of God geared to-ward children and is held in the Elizabeth Room. Adults and families like yours take turns leading the prayers and songs, proclaiming scripture, and discussing the Gospel with the children. Children return to the Church to celebrate the Eucharist with their parents.

The time commitment is minimal, occasional Sundays from 10 AM to 11:45 AM. Adults or entire families are welcome to participate as part of the volunteer team. Older sib-lings can come and help too. A breakfast meeting will be held on October 6th at 10 AM in the Elizabeth Room. To RSVP or find out more, contact Donna at [email protected].

Seniors: The seniors will be meeting this Monday, October 21st at 12 noon in the Elizabet Room. All seniors are welcome.
