This Weekend’s Scripture First Reading: Wisdom 6:12-16 Regarded as personifying God’s power, Wisdom is readily and easily found by those who seek her. Second Reading: 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 The Thessalonians, who fear that those who have died will miss Christ’s return, are comforted by Paul’s assur-ance that those “who have died in Christ will rise first.” Gospel: Matthew 25:1-13 In the parable of the five sensible bridesmaids and the five foolish bridesmaids, Jesus emphasizes the fact that we must always be ready for the coming of Christ because in his words, “You know not the day or the hour.”
A Stewardship Thought ….
“Therefore, stay awake, for you know neither the day nor the hour.” - MATTHEW 25:13
Many of us have put off doing something because we
think we are too busy. We’ve all said, “I’ll do it later
when I have time.” Unfortunately, too many of us apply
this attitude to our Faith. Jesus’ call is urgent, in the
here and now, in your current circumstances. Don’t
delay, how is God calling you to use your gifts today?

Do you know someone who is interested in becoming Catholic?
God works in many different ways, most of the time through ordinary people and events. No matter what a person's reasons are for becoming Catholic, the Church’s hope and prayer is that whenever God calls them, they will respond.
Becoming Catholic is a process and the Catholic Church has a process called RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation) that the earliest Christians used when people came to them requesting Baptism. RCIA at OLV meets on Sundays at 11:30 AM in the lower church meeting room..
If you know someone who was never baptized and may be interested in learning more about the Catholic Faith, or someone who was baptized but never re-ceived Holy Communion and Confirmation and would like to come into full communion with the Catholic
Church, please invite them to join us.

News from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul
Go to the poor, you will see God. - St. V. de Paul We are so grateful for the ever generous donations our food pantry receives from you our parish family. Be-cause of you we are regularly helping at least 60 fami-lies a month. It’s not unusual for us to help up to 85 families. With the pantry being so busy the shelves become depleted quickly. Could you please help us by donating non-perishable food items? We are very low on pasta and pasta sauces, cans of tuna and chicken. As always, we are in need of canned or packaged fruit, drinks, peanut butter, cereals, canned vegetables, instant mac & cheese, canned pasta such as Chef Boyardee and other family food items. Donations can be left in the church lobby after any mass. Thank you.
If you receive a frozen turkey that you won’t be using this Thanksgiving please consider donating it to us. We’ll make sure it gets to someone who’ll appreciate it. Call the parish office to arrange a pickup or drop-off. Donations of Thanksgiving meal items such as stuffing mix and yams would also be appreciated.
Our Lord said; “As you have done for the least of my brethren, you have done unto me.” This is the basis for all we do at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. We invite you to share in our mission. If you or someone you know is in need of assistance please contact us through the parish office. In the past we’ve helped people with rent, utility, groceries, medicines and many other needs. No work of charity is foreign to our socie-ty. In the name of Christ we are here to help and to serve. Please put us to work. If you or someone you know is truly in need please contact us through the par-ish office. (732) 257-0077
