A Stewardship Thought …

“And Peter said to them, ‘Repent, and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ…”

ACTS 2:38

The word “repent” means to turn from sin, to change our actions. When it comes to change, do we take responsibility for change or do we think that oth-ers have to change instead? Change that is perma-nent comes from within, we must take control and be disciplined. Remember though that we are not alone, Jesus is there to help lighten the load.

World Day of Prayer for Vocations

The World Day of Prayer for Vocations will be observed on Sunday, May 7th, also known as "Good Shepherd Sunday." The purpose of this day is to publically fulfill the Lord's instruction to, "Pray the Lord of the harvest

to send laborers into his harvest" (Mt 9:38; Lk 10:2).

Please pray that young men and women hear and re-spond generously to the Lord's call to the priesthood, diaconate, religious life, societies of apostolic life or secular institutes. You can find many resources to pro-mote a culture of vocations on the USCCB Vocations webpage (www.usccb.org/vocations).

“Would you ask your child to consider priesthood, sisterhood, or brotherhood in my name, why not? “ - God

Trinity Dome Collection

The Bishops of the United States have approved a special one time collection to take place in parishes across the nation on May 14th to support the mosaic orna-mentation of the Trinity Dome, the crown-

ing jewel of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington, DC. The National Shrine has been a century in the mak-ing since the laying of the foundation stone in 1920. Thank you in advance for your promotion and support of this initiative to help complete the America’s Catholic Church in advance of its 100th Anniversary.

News from the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Thanks to everyone who supported us by attending the fundraising painting party! A great time was had by all. Do you have an old vehicle you’d rather receive a tax deduction for rather than selling or junking it? The SVDP National Vehicle Donation Program is both a fundraiser and a way to assist those in need. It’s also a tax deduction for you! The proceeds from your vehi-cle donation will provide food, housing, medicines and more to our clients in need. If desired your donation can be directed to specifically assist our SVdP confer-ence here at OLV. Your vehicle will be picked up quickly and you’ll receive a tax receipt within 45 days. For more information call 800 322-8284 or visit:

http://svdpusa.careasy.org Food pantry: Non-perishable donations can be left in the church lobby after any mass. At the moment we need pasta sauces and canned or packaged fruit. Those in Need: No work of charity is foreign to our society. If you or someone you know is in need of as-sistance contact us through the parish office 732 257-0077. In the past we’ve helped people with rent, utility, groceries, medicines, special dietary requirements, job searches and many other needs.

2017 Bishop’s Annual Appeal Ambassadors for Christ

Just as important as our financial goal of $7 million is our non-monetary goal of 100% participation. The Appeal is more than just a request for financial contributions; it is an invitation to witness to our faith and to share concretely in the mission of the Church throughout Middlesex, Somerset, Hunter-don and Warren counties. If you have already made a gift to the 2017 Bishop’s Annual Appeal, thank you. If you have not yet made your gift, it’s not too late. Mail your check made payable to the Bishop’s Annual Ap-peal to Diocese of Metuchen, PO Box 4000, Metuchen, NJ 08840-4000 or visit our secure online site at
