Floral Offering Everyone is offered the opportunity to contribute towards the expense of flowers for the altars at Christmas and throughout the liturgical year. Please use the envelopes in your envelope packets or those available at the church entrances, All contributions and floral memorials will be acknowledged in January and will appear in the church bulletin unless you wish your gift to be anonymous. All donations are appreciated. Please note that during the Advent season, flowers do not adorn the altar.

During Advent and throughout the Christmas season it is a beautiful custom to make a “special offering or gift” to your Church. These gifts are deeply appreciated and are used for various educational programs conducted by the Parish”, all “special gifts” of $100.00 or more will be acknowledged. Have a blessed Advent and wonderful Christmas.

FROM THE NURSES CORNER For those who have completed CPR, certification cards can be picked up at the rectory office.

Because we were unable to accommodate some people, we are offering CPR again on January 21,2018 ( snow date January 28) at 1pm. Those who participate will receive a 2 year Heartsaver certificate from the American Heart Association. The class is limited to 20 people, and requests need to be in by January 14. The class will include adult, child, and infant CPR, as well as use if the AED and what to do if someone is choking. The cost for the card has increased to $20.00. CPR books are also available for an additional fee. If you wish to purchase a book beforehand, please complete registration two weeks beforehand; otherwise they will be available the day of the class. You can email us at [email protected] to register.

FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT

The expectant parents who wish to have their child

baptized are asked to call the rectory at 387-7119 to

prepare properly for this joyous celebration. Attendance at

the pre-baptismal program conducted by the parish staff is

required. The Archdiocese of Hartford mandates this

program prior to baptism. Baptisms are held on the first

and third Sundays of each month. Please call Denise at the

rectory to register.

Thank you from Social Action Committee

The recent Social Action fundraising breakfast was a

huge success, thanks to those who not only bought tickets for the event,

but joined in on the theme basket raffle as well. The parishioners who

made up the baskets were, as always, very creative and generous, and an

integral part of our fundraising efforts.

The breakfast raises money towards helping those in the community

who are less fortunate, by stocking our pantry, and then distributing

food baskets during the major holidays. Our goals as a committee would

not be reached without the help of the people on Social Action (and in

many instances, their friends), who give of their time and talent to put

together the breakfast---there are those who help shop; those who set up

the hall to transform it into a warm and inviting room, with beautiful

flowers or greens from their homes; those who make numerous phone

calls for the lovely theme baskets; those who provide a seasonal craft

project for the children of the parish; those that cook the wonderful meal

everyone enjoys; and those who stay and help clean up after the

breakfast.

There are so many wonderful people who are involved in the success of

this breakfast—individuals were purposely not named , as there are so

many who contribute, and we would not want to overlook anyone

unintentionally.

On behalf of the Social Action Committee, thank you all!! Out hope is

that your summer is filled with joy, sunshine, and love!

Barbara Bessinger, Judy Foster, Margaret Hamilton co chairs.

COME TO THE TABLE Just a reminder about “Come to the table”, which provides non-perishable food for a fami-ly at any time during the year, based on request.

If you know of a family in need, please call Denise in the church office at 203-387-7119. All family names will be kept strictly confidential.

As you might expect, the food pantry is low on supplies and is always in need of new inventory. Financial contributions and donations of non-perishable food are always welcome. Items include canned fruit, jelly/jam, peanut butter, pasta, pasta sauce, rice, canned potatoes, beans, cereal, macaroni and cheese, soup, tuna fish and toiletries. Please leave your donations in the rear of either church. Again, “THANK YOU”

There may be occasion when the rectory and

religious education offices are closed due to

inclement weather. On these “questionable”

days, you may wish to “call ahead” prior to leaving your

home to verify the office is open.
