• The Reproductive Health Bill, popularly known as the RH Bill, is a Philippine bill aiming to guarantee universal access to methods and information on birth control and maternal care. The bill has become the center of a contentious national debate.

ABORTION

• Any fruit or produce that does not come to maturity, or anything which in its progress, before it is matured or perfect; a complete failure; as, his attempt proved an abortion.

CONTRACEPTIVES

• Another central issue is the morality of contraception.

• Contraception, says the church, also makes spouses lie about their total self gift to their spouse, by not surrendering their personal fertility.

SEX EDUCATION

• To achieve its goals, the bill provides for mandatory reproductive health education and that it be taught in "an age-appropriate manner... by adequately trained teachers starting from Grade 5 up to Fourth Year High School."

NATURAL DISASTER

• Natural disasters occur when forces of nature damage the environment and manmade structures. If people live in the area, natural disasters can cause a great deal of human suffering. As a result of disasters, people may be injured or killed, or may lose their homes and possessions.

BURDEN OF NATURAL DISASTER

• They must monitor the health needs of the disaster-affected population and work to ensure that emergency managers take actions to meet those needs. They also need to maintain the everyday public health programs that were in place before the disaster occurred.

PHYSICAL DESTRUCTION

• Homes, vehicles and personal possessions are often destroyed within a short period of time, leaving families homeless and shutting some business down permanently.

EMOTIONAL TOLL

• The emotional toll of natural disasters is much more devastating. The death of a loved one may be the worst-case scenario but it's not the only lasting emotional effect victims experience.

ECONOMIC CONCERNS

•The local economy must be able to absorb the cost of cleanup and repairs.

INDIRECT EFFECTS

• This can mean life or death for those who rely on dialysis or oxygen to live. Medical assistance is also often slowed, as emergency crews must focus on the victims of the disaster. Banks and other businesses might be closed, affecting a family's ability to withdraw money to pay bills and buy groceries.

GEOGRAPHY

• In rural or isolated communities, natural disasters can thrust families into a situation where they must do without modern conveniences like electric and running water. They may not be able to get to town to buy necessities and have to rely on what they have stocked up.

ENVIRONMENT

• As is the case with humans, animals can be displaced from their homes. Sometimes they have no alternative but to leave the area and try to fit into a new habitat.
