THE PARISH AS ONE BODY “If the whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be? If the whole body were hearing, where would the sense of smell be? But as it is, God placed the parts, each one of them, in the body as he intended… The eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I do not need you,’ nor again the head to the feet, ‘I do not need you.’ Indeed, the parts of the body that seem to be weaker are all the more necessary . Now you are Christ’s body, and individually parts of it. “ (1 Cor. 12:17-25)

RESPECT LIFE NEWS

PENNIES FROM HEAVEN

Start saving your pennies and other loose coins now for the Pen-nies From Heaven Collection which will take place on Aug. 23 & 24.

Most parishes in the Orange Diocese have this fundraiser to help fund the 3 Life Centers, the 6 Birth Choice health clinics and the homes for pregnant mothers in need in Orange County. They rely on this collection for their annual operation costs. Encour-age your children too, to save their change during the summer months to help these unborn babies live. The parish Respect Life Group will be handing out baby bottles after Masses on August 9 & 10, to take home and fill up with these coins. Then return the bottles on August 23 & 24. You can also insert paper money or checks in the bottles for this collec-tion. We like the lightweight stuff!

RCIA is a process by which the community initiates into its midst non-baptized adults, baptized adults from another faith seeking full communion with the Catholic Church, and those preparing for full initiation through the Sacraments of Confirmation

and Eucharist. RCIA is primarily a journey of faith that begins with wondering, asking, and seeking; continues through hear-ing God’s word, studying, discussing, and praying; and leads to a commitment through the sacraments of initiation to a life of faith and love in communion with Catholics throughout the world.

Contact the Parish Office if you or a loved one have been pray-ing about joining RCIA. Classes begin in August.

PARENT’S NIGHT OUT

On an annual basis, our Consultative School Board nominates new members to the School Board. It is important that the Community of St. Juliana be a part of the process of choosing a School Board that will work for the next few years with the Principal and Pastor of the School and the Parish. Candidates should have a desire for academic growth and a vision for the future of St. Juliana Parish School and Catholic Community. Recommendations come from the people of this community. If you or someone you know fits this criteria and are able to serve as a member of the Consultative School Board, please let the Parish Office know—714-879-1965. Recommendations and nominations will be taken for the next few weeks. Please dis-cern this call and contact us if you or someone you know are interested.

PASTORAL SERVICES APPEAL 2014 ST. JULIANA FALCONIERI GOALS

Our PSA 2014 campaign began in late March and to date we have received 241responses total-ing $126,743. Our pledges range from $5 - $12,000.

Our diocesan assessment is $108,000.

We have officially met our goal—now, every pledge paid and received over $108,000 will be returned to St. Juliana.

Some generous parishioners have offered a matching gift oppor-tunity for all our parish staff, school families, and school staff. They will match dollar for dollar every pledge from $10-$75 up to at least $11,000 to encourage 100% participation from all of us.

Please join in making a pledge to our PSA 2014 campaign. Cut out the pledge info above, and remit to the Parish Office, attn.: PSA .. or contact the Parish Office at 714-879-1965 should you need additional PSA pledge information.

MUSIC MINISTRY NEWS

Our 11am ‘Spirit’ music group is eagerly and enthusiastically seeking to expand our group. We began providing music as ‘Spirit’ 22 years ago here at St. Juliana Parish and wish to con-tinue to offer a contemporary style of music. It is a challenge to do so as we are missing key ingredients…

First, and most importantly, we need an experienced lead Acoustic Guitarist. This person should be familiar with church music and understand its relevance as it applies to the calendar and liturgical church year.

Secondly, we wish to expand our group, as in the past, by add-ing a Bass and Electric Guitarist.

If you have been graciously blessed with any of these talents, we ask that you please think and pary about sharing them with the Parish by joining our ‘Spirit’ group. Please call St. Juliana Music Director Todd Helm at (714) 528-4690 or you can email him at [email protected], or contact Joan Wismer at 714-336-5522. We would be happy to share further information and details as well as answer any questions.

Liturgical music is very important to the celebration of the Eucha-rist. We need your voices and talents!

“THANK YOU” MESSAGE FROM THE 3RD PLATOON ~

BOOKS COLLECTED BY THE KNIGHTS

“Dear Mr. Kane and the Knights of Columbus, I want to thank you for your much appreciated support! My platoon just received your care packages and will be putting them to good use. One day, I hope that I am able to have a large enough collection of books that I can give 10 boxes away - that will be amazing! You have helped us to create a minia-ture library in our headquarters, where people can freely take whatever genre of book they want. I am always grateful and amazed at the support that we receive from home and even those we’ve never met before. I enjoyed your letter and get-ting to see a little more of who our supporters are. In my platoon, we have soldiers from all over the country and from all kinds of backgrounds. Some come from military fam-ilies and have continued the tradition, some looked for the best way that they could serve and to serve those around them. It is great to learn more each day from these men! From my platoon to you, thank you again and God Bless!”
