1. Use a #2 phillips screwdriver to remove factory push pins secur-

ing the top of the factory grille top plate to the radiator support

panel.

2015 Hyundai Sonata Mesh Grille

TOOLS REQUIRED Automotive grade masking tape, electric drill, 5/16” and 1/16” drill bits, razor blade or X-Acto knife, long #2

phillips screwdriver, large and small flat blade screwdrivers, side cutters, 9mm & 10mm sockets and ratchet,

solvent, flat or semi-gloss black paint, glass cleaner and soft, clean cloths.

Upper Replacement / Lower Overlay

2. Lift up on the radiator support panel to expose the screws secur-

ing the forward edge of the readiator support panel to the

grille. These screws need to be removed.

3. Using a long #2 phillips screwdriver, remove all the screws retaining

the radiator support panel to the grille and remove the panel.

4. Apply masking tape around the upper grille and emblem to pro-

tect the finish during the following bumper cover removal. Re-

move the front license plate bracket (if equipped) at this time.

Adaptive cruise grille shown, non-adaptive cruise grille similar.

5. Remove the plastic phillips screws securing the inner wheel liners to

the bumper cover. Remove the 10mm hex screw securing the top

edge of the bumper cover to the front fender.

6. Apply masking tape to the front fender / bumper cover where they

meet. Pull the bumper cover out to release it from the mounting

channel attached to the front fender.

7. Use a 10mm socket to remove the five mounting screws located

across the bottom of the bumper cover.

8. With the help of an assistant, pull up and out on the bumper cover

to remove it from the vehicle. Pull the bumper cover out far enough

to release the electrical connectors on the lower light assemblies.

Place the bumper cover face up on a padded work area for the fol-

lowing upper grille removal procedure.

9. Apply masking tape to all raised body lines on the bumper cover to

protect the paint (as shown).

10. Turn the bumper cover over and remove the factory phillips screws

on either side of the factory grille.

11. Remove the metal clips securing the styrofoam filler to the inside of

the bumper cover and remove the filler (save clips and styrofoam

filler for reinstallation.

13. Once all the clips have released, lift straight up on the grille to re-

move it from the bumper cover.

15. Install the 120 degree bent mounting brackets onto the upper fac-

tory grille mounting tabs, makling sure the bracket is perfectly

aligned with the edges of the mounting tabs (as shown, prototype

clip shown. Production clips will be black powder coated).

16. For customers requesting installation of the factory grille emblem:

Use side cutters to trim the exposed plastic studs off above the

pressed on retainers securing the emblem to the factory grille.

12. Use a flat blade screwdriver to relase the mounting tabs that se-

cure the grille to the bumper cover. Lift up on the grille as the clips

release.

14. Install the 90 degree bent mounting brackets onto the lower and

side factory grille mounting tabs using the supllied #8 x 3/8” truss

head screws, making sure the bracket is perfectly aligned with the

edges of the mounting tabs (as shown ). You can drill a 1/16” pilot

hole or allow the screws to self tap into the mounting tabs.

17. Use a small flat blade screwdriver to remove the pressed on retain-

ers and remove the emblem from the factory grille for installation

onto the E&G Mesh grille.

18. Align the emblem over the supplied emblem mounting plate. Align

the emblem assembly onto the mesh grille, making sure it is per-

fectly centered (you might have to trim a mesh wire or two to

properly align the emblem). Adaptive Cruise version shown.

19. Turn the grille over and install the supplied black plastic washers,

three per stud, then thread the supplied #8 x 3/8” truss head

screws into the studs on the factory emblem to secure the assem-

bly. Tighten slowly and carefully until the emblem is secure.

20. Install the supplied .045” x .250” double faced tape to the back of

the lower surround in four even sections across the top, align the

lower mesh section into place and press it firmly into the tape to

hold the mesh in place during the lower grille alignment.

21. Use flat or semi-gloss black paint to black out the lower mounting

studs on the lower grille assembly.

22. Use a 5/16” drill bit to drill through the lower corners of the factory

lower grille insert.

23. Align the lower mesh grille assembly over the lower factory grille

insert, making sure all mounting studs pass through the holes

drilled in the previous step and the factory openings. Use masking

tape to hold the grille into place for the following hardware instal-

lation.

24. Install the supplied large black plastic washers and #8-32 ESNA

half nuts onto the lower mounting studs (A) and the supplied

lower grille mounting brackets and #8-32 ESNA half nuts onto the

upper mounting studs (B). Snug the nuts but do not completely

tighten at this time.

25. Turn the bumper cover back over and remove the masking tape

applied to the lower grille opening by pulling it back over itself to

minimize tape breakage. Finish the lower grille installation by tight-

ening the hardware until the grille is snug.

26. Carefully apply flat or semi-gloss paint to the lower and side

mounting studs on the upper grille to help conceal them once the

grille is installed.

27. Align the upper mesh grille into place, making sure all the mount-

ing studs pass through the previously installed mounting brackets.

Use masking tape to help hold the grille in place, then turn the

bumper cover / grille assembly over for the following mounting

hardware installation.

28. Install the supplied #8-32 ESNA half nuts onto the mounting studs

and tighten until the grille’s preinstalled ESNA nuts are against the

mounting brackets. Once the grille is installed, reinstall the styro-

foam bumper filler removed in Step 10 (not shown).

29. Paint everything that would be visible through the mesh grille with

flat or semi-gloss black paint. The photo shows 1/2 of the paint ap-

plied.

30. With the help of an assistant, realign the bumper cover back onto

the vehicle, reversing Steps 1-13.

31. Reinstall the radiator support panel cover reusing the factory hard-

ware. The upper tabs on the bumper cover will fit through the

slots in the radiator support panel cover.

32. Carefully trim the bottom of the front tag bracket (if equipped) as

shown in the above photo to clear the lower mesh grille.

27. Reinstall the modified front license plate bracket (if equipped). Re-

move the protective covering from the lower grille surround and

use a mild solvent and a soft, clean cloth to remove any glue

residue. Use alcohol or glass cleaner and a soft clean cloth to re-

move any solvent residue to finish the installation (adaptive cruise

version shown).
