CHRISTOLOGY

The Doctrine and Study about the Lord Jesus Christ

Page 2: Christology Sunday School

Page 3: Christology Sunday School

The Pre-Existence of Christ

a. Pinantay ni Jesus ang sarili sa Ama-John10:30

b. Buhay na Siya bago pa si Abraham-John 8:48-58

c. Ang presensiya Niya kasama ng Ama John 17:5

d. Ang pag-ibig ng Ama sa nakaraan Jn 17:24; Jn.13:3

Ang Pagpapakababa ni Jesus

Basahin ang Galatia 4.4 at Filipos 2.6

1. Ang Pagsasantabi ng Paggamit ng kanyang Pagka Dios

Filipos 2.6

Filipos 2.6-7

Page 5: Christology Sunday School

Surely, the works of Elijah and Elisha did not indicate that they were God incarnate, since they performed them through the power of the Spirit; but we are called on to believe that Christ is God because of the works which he did. This can only be the case if he wrought them, at least many of them, by the power of his own deity. Christ worked miracles

Page 7: Christology Sunday School

As for his power, we not only read that he rebuked the wind, miraculously fed the hungry, healed the sick, cast out demons, and raised the dead, but that he frequently called on the people to believe him for his works’ sake, if they would not believe his words (John 6 : 36 ; 10: 25, 37f. ; 14: 11; 15 : 24). through his own inherent power (Matt. 9:28), the apostles performed themin the name of Christ, and Christ at times performed miracles in the power ofthe Holy Spirit, and not his own (Matt. 12:X3).

Read the following text1.John 1: 14 2.Gal. 4:43.Rom. 8:34.Heb. 2:14

I. THE REASONS FOR THE INCARNATION

A. TO CONFIRM GODS PROMISES Rom. 15:8-12

Beginning with the promise in Gen. 3:15 and continuing through the Old Testament, God at various times promised to send his Son into the world. Isaiah 9:6; 7:14

careful examination of the Old Testament reveals that there are two lines ofprediction concerning the coming of Christ: he was to come as a Savior fromsin, and as a King in his kingdom. Isaiah 9:6

Page 17: Christology Sunday School

B. To REVEAL THE FATHER

John 1:18; John 14:9 Jesus taught that to see him was to see the Father,

C. To BECOME A FAITHFUL HIGH PRIEST Heb. 5:l; Heb. 5:4 He came in order to become qualified to act as a faithful high priest. Christ came that he might enter into every human experience, apart from sin, so that he might be qualified as a high priest. The Old Testament high priests were taken from among men in order that they might faithfully represent men and Christ likewise was taken from among men for the same reasons.

Heb 4: 15 The very fact that he felt the pangs of hunger, the want of sympathyfrom others, that he had sleepless nights, that he was weary from the toils oflife, that he felt every type of temptation that comes to man, that he wasmisunderstood, forsaken, persecuted, and delivered up to death, was a preparationfor his present priestly ministry.

D. To PUT AWAY SINHe came to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself Heb. 9:26. This truth has already been mentioned in connection with the first purpose of the incarnation, but it needs to be set out more specifically as the purpose of all purposes Mark 10:45. It is clearly indicated that he needed to become a man in order to die for the sins of mankind Hebrews 2:9; 1John 3: 5
