  • Christmas in Poland

  • Christmas is very old festival. It starts on December 24th and lasts till December 26th. In Poland we buy and decorate the Christmas tree a few days before Christmas. A Christmas tree smells lovely! I decorate my Cgristmas tree with coloured lights, balls, angels and other decorations. I also put some sweets and fruit on my Christmas tree and big, golden star at the top of it.

  • We send Christmas cards to family and friends and prepare special Christmas food. We buy presents for all we love! I love buying presents for my mum and dad and for my little sister!

  • On Christmas Eve, December 24th, we have Christmas supper. We start supper when the first star appears in the sky. We stand around a Christmas table and share a wafer with the whole family wishing each other Merry Christmas. Then we sit at a table and eat. Our traditional meal is carp, poppy seed cake and other special Christmas food.

  • We open our presents on Christmas Eve, just after supper. My father dresses as Father Christmas and he gives our presents away from under the Christmas tree. I always get nice presents from my family. We sing carols and have fun. At midnight we go to church to celebrate the birth of Jesus.

  • December 25th and 26th are Christmas Days. We have a big family dinner, visit family and friends and relax. If the weather is nice, we go for a long walks and play in the snow.

  • I like Christmas because all the family is together. My mum and dad don't rush to work and I don't go to school. I like getting Christmas presents and I like Christmas food.
