In Poland, Advent is the beginning of

Christmas Time.Some people give up their

favourite foods or drinks and discos. Some

people also go to Church. There is the

tradition of the roraty, special masses

dedicated to Mary.

WigiliaThe Christmas Eve a very important andbusy day in Poland. A specjal Christmas Evemeal called Wigilia is eaten after the firststar has been seen in the sky.So childrenlook at the night sky to spot the first star!Itis also all meat free and migdt consist ofbarszcz,uszka,pierogi and fish dishes.Themeal consists of 12 dishes.At the beginning

ofthe meal everyone breaks a piece off and

eats Opłatek.

After Wigilia

After Wigilia children chec the presentsunder the tree.Presents might also bebrought by ,,Święty Mikołaj’’.People talk

andsing carols.Christmas Eve is finished by going toChurch for a Midnight Mass servis.It iscalled ,,Pasterka,,The day after Wigilia we are often spentwith family and friends.
