As many of you will know our work inNazareth relies on the generous assistanceand support from well-wishers around theworld.

As we approach the end of the year I wouldlike to provide you with an update on our

fundraising activities over the last 12 months. Many of you willhave already played a part in our achievements by way ofinvolvement and giving.

So, I pray that you will find encouragement from what you havehelped us to start and also that you find an opportunity to helpus continue to serve those who need us.

To see our work grow and to serve the city of Nazareth andbeyond we appeal to you for further support, and we welcomethe offer of time, talents and financials.

I am sure that together we can demonstrate the love of Jesus inaction as we serve Him in His home town.

This could be as simple as buying a book, joining us on our JesusTrail sponsored walk or celebrating our School’s 90thAnniversary as well as providing a financial gift.

We welcome your feedback and thoughts if this AppealsNewsletter has proved useful. Our plan is to provide this on anAnnual basis, should there be demand.

I pray that you will enjoy a Christmas full of joy and offer God’sblessing to you all at this time.

he vision to create a Catheterisation Unit for the Hospital hasbecome a reality thanks to the collective fundraising of the

local community and the generosity of Nazareth Trustsupporters.

The ‘Heart to Heart’ Appeal was led by the local community andthrough various events and initiatives raised a staggering £1.57mmillion enabling construction work to start.

The Unit has already been approved by the Ministry of Healthand at a recent ceremony businessman, Mr Hatem Soabi, laidthe foundation stone on the site of the development.

The state of the art building will drastically improve the treatmentof cardiac related conditions. We are still short of our £2.18mtarget to complete and equip the unit which is hoped will openin 2014.

elp us celebrate the School of Nursing’s 90th Anniversary in2014 by supporting those of our nursing students who are

struggling to fund their studies. To ensure the School does notlose the talents of such students and miss out on celebrating withus next year a bursary programme is in place to provide somefinancial assistance.

Since the Spring we have received a number of grants enablingthe scheme to continue but there are still many potential studentsthat we lose due to financial reasons. We are now just short of£8,000 of being able to provide a full bursary scheme for the2014 Academic Year.

or the last 50 years the Chapel has seen the gathering ofGod’s people for worship and instruction from which they

then enter a world of service. In order for this to continue and theneed for additional space by the Chaplaincy we need toundertake a refurbishment programme. This will ensure theChapel buildings can continue to be a place of both fellowshipand commissioning.

Next year also marks the 50th Anniversary of the chapel. Wehave been delighted by the gifts given to date but are still £9,000short of the required amount to make the desired changes.

The Chapel was opened in 1964 as part of a new building thatalso included a new nurses home, thanks to funding receivedfrom the Protestant Christians of West Germany. Itaccommodates about 150 people and services are held eachSunday, Wednesday and Thursday.

e are keen to set up local supporter groups across theglobe to encourage positive action to ensure the ongoing

support of the work of the charity.

Following a simple and informal format, the Groups could seekto initiate –

1. Spiritual support and prayer for those currently involved aswell as those who have been involved in the work.

2. Activities to promote greater awareness of the work inNazareth and the background to that work.

3. Fund raising activities towards general or specific agreedprojects in organisations such as churches, schools etc.

4. The sale of goods and products produced by and/or for TheNazareth Trust.

5. Encouraging visits and pilgrimages to the Holy Land toinclude an extended stay in Nazareth to visit the work.

A minimum offive people arerecommended toestablish a Groupand guidance canbe provided fromHead Office. Forexample, arepresentative ofThe NazarethTrust couldarrange a visit toexplain thehistory and thework inNazareth, as well as how a Cell Group can support the work.Brochures, newsletters, banners and collection boxes can alsobe provided.

Meetings can be held to suit the group, monthly or quarterly andwe recommend that the meetings should be prayerful rather thansocial, and any time spent together should be profitable. However, the format is entirely dependent on the Group.

An advice pack with details on how to set up a Cell Group areavailable by contacting Shaun Newton [email protected]
