About the project:Hotel Cellai is a small boutique hotel located in Florence’s city center. While abroad I was given the opportunity to redesign some spaces within the hotel to give an updated aesthetic appeal to all travelers.

The design challenge:To re-design an existing hotel room.

The design requirements:To create a hotel room that appeals to all travelers young an old while relating to the culture and spirit of Florence, Italy. Include all required furniture pieces (bed, desk, mirror, wardrobe, luggage stand, lounge seat.)

The design solutions:I placed the furniture pieces in a way that allows fl ow and balance despite the restriction of the space. I chose materials and fi nishes that are age and gender neutral. Overall the new design created a beautiful space that every guest can enjoy.

Skills demonstrated:Revit, FF+E, Space Planning, Conceptual Design

About the project:My classmates and I designed a modern Italian fi ne dining restaurant. We named our restaurant Dinamico. As a group we divided the project up by spaces, mine being the reception area.

The design challenge:Collaborating with 2-3 other classmates to create a cohesive and functional design for the small attached restaurant at Hotel Cellai.

The design requirements:Design a fi ne dining restaurant with chosen cultural style The design solutions:Using the art piece Dynamism of a Soccer Player by Umberto Boccioni as a concept, I created a dynamic reception space that is bold and inviting. The design is meant to draw in those walking by on the street.

The design requirements:Must be welcoming for those of all denominations. The space must be fl exible to allow for quiet individual prayer or communal gatherings

The design solution:I chose the concept of light ans dark / day and night since it is familiar to everyone. I created an intimate space that still feels open and welcoming through the use of colors and light.

About the project:Design a studio for another classmate

The design challenge:Small space, consider client’s preferences

The design requirements:Apply classmates logo design, personal textile design, choice of location, and style preference with two different material palettes

The design solution:I kept the space open and used a movable partition to defi ne the reception area. I incorporated the client’s interest in nature by integrating wood and stone textures along with colors that refl ect nature.

Skills demonstrated:Illustrator, Revit, FF+E, Space Planning, Schematic Design, Photoshop

About the project:Design a commercial offi ce environment for Trip Advisor in an existing commercial building in Waltham, MA.

The design challenge:Working with a building that has windows on all exterior walls, incorporating company branding through out the design.

The design requirements:Must include all required offi ce spaces -- reception, client facing, workstations, conferencing rooms, and administrative offi ces.

The design solutions:I used the Trip Advisor logo as a concept for my design. I chose glass walls where possible to allow natural light to penetrate through the building. I chose to use half height walls in some areas to create privacy. The overall design includes a library, cafe, meeting rooms, and various kinds of employee work stations.

About the project:Design a custom luminaire

About my design:For the design of my custom luminaire I was inspired by symmetry and balance. I modeled a ring and balanced a bowl shaped form to conceal and refl ect the light source upward. I applied three different metals to the design to make it universal.

Skills demonstrated:Revit, Lighting Design
