Christians on the Car Lot

How to Drive a Quality Car, Take Care of Your Family, And, Most Importantly, Live In Our Lord‘s Will by Avoiding Debt

We have a mandate from our Lord

• We are commanded to take care of our family – 1 Timothy 5:8.

• Yet, we are also commanded to avoid going into debt, so as not to serve two masters – Proverbs 22:7.

My two cents:

• When you borrow to obtain things, even if it’s something you need, it’s very hard to convince anyone that it was due to God’s provision.

• Everything we do as believers reflects on God’s credibility. Going into debt hurts your witness.

• You probably already knew this. That’s what makes my job of selling cars so hard.

Your struggle is MY struggle

• So how do you drive a quality car, WITHOUT going into debt? Your choices SEEM to be:

• 1) You can pay cash for a new car. Few can afford that.

• 2) You can buy a cheaper car for cash.

• OR, 3) you can go into debt to drive a quality car.

How to sell a car to believers?

• I struggled with this for five long years.

• The answer is, as always, in the Bible.

• 1) Paul hired a house for two years - Acts 28:30.

• 2) The “Good Samaritan” took his charge to an inn, and gave two pence, in advance, for his care - Luke 10:33-35

• They didn’t buy the house, or the hotel. They rented it. And they paid in advance.

Rent is not debt.•Don’t buy what you cannot afford. Rent it instead.

•Debt is receiving something first, and paying for it later.

•Rent is paying for something first, THEN receiving it.

Page 7: Christians on the Car Lot

Rent is not debt.•God does not reckon rent as debt. Rent is not a sin.

•As long as you do not make your seller wait for payment, it is not debt: - Deuteronomy 24:15.

The answer is simple: Rent your car.• In the car business, ‘rent’ is called a ‘lease.’

• The difference between buying and leasing, is that instead of buying the whole car, a lease is buying the right to drive the car for a period of time, just like renting a house.

• Renting a house for a short period of time is cheaper than purchasing it, and the analogy holds true for leasing a car.

Is leasing cheaper than a loan?

• Believers often ask me about the terms of a lease, as if they can choose between a lease and a loan.

• For you and I, as believers, the answer is this:

• YES, BUT IT DOESN’T MATTER.

• One is living in our Lord’s will for you, and one is not.

• I have done the comparison between buying on credit and leasing, see my first presentation, called “You Can’t AFFORD to Buy My Car!”, found on YouTube and SlideShare.

You CAN obey God and have a quality car!

• Leasing allows you to drive a quality car for less than what it costs to purchase a new one.

• Leasing allows you to take good care of your family, for about what it would cost to buy a second-hand car.

• Leasing keeps you out of debt, and in God’s will, by paying in advance.

• Leasing is good for your witness.

Get free of debt NOW!

• Has anyone else ever told you this? Even any other Christians? I’ve been a believer since 1984, and nobody ever told me this.

• Now it’s time for you to take action immediately, if you have vehicle debt.

• Trade it in, with me or with someone, and get a quality car in a way that keeps you in God’s will. Lease it.

• Wouldn’t you like to feel the peace and joy that comes with knowing that you’re living right?

• I know I have great peace and joy bring you this message.
