2020 CENSUS-YOUR RESPONSE MATTERS You may wonder why the Census matters: It’s simple. It’s the law. It’s about having our voices represented in Congress. And it’s about receiving our fair share of federal spending. Your participation has benefits for our community and all Pennsylvanians. Being counted in the census in 2020 will be easier than ever before. For the first time in history, Pennsylvanians will be able to respond online. Residents will also be able to answer the census by mail or by phone. Census answers can’t be used against an individual. Data security will be managed by security experts operating at the highest levels. This

Borough Manager Update Christiana Borough Council and the Christiana Borough Authority would like to extend their thanks to Congressman Lloyd Smucker and Representative John Lawrence for their efforts in helping to obtain a loan through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) for a Sewer Collection System sliplining project. Also, Christiana Borough and the Christiana Borough Police Department would like to extend a Thank You to Senator Scott Martin for his efforts in helping the police department obtain a DCED grant which will be used towards a purchase of a new vehicle. Christiana Borough welcomes new employee Joseph “Joe” Prekup as its part-time Public Works employee who will be working with Chuck and Austin. Joe has been instrumental with the up-grading of our infrastructure and roads. When you’re out and about say hello to Joe and welcome him to Christiana. Infrastructure Update:

Emergency work was done on the sewer line in March due to a possible sinkhole issue on Newport Ave.

Sliplining work on various sewer pipes will begin this spring. Sliplining is generally a cost-effective rehabilitative method to replace water and sewer mains by inserting a new pipe by pulling and pushing it into the existing pipe to repair leaks or restore structural stability to the old pipes.

I would also like to remind you with warmer weather approaching children will be outside playing and riding their bikes please be mindful of the posted speed limits for their safety as well as yours.

And as always, I love to hear when visitors say how charming and quaint our town is when they stop into the office. Thank you for helping us maintain that charm by keeping your properties well- groomed and in good repair.
