ARTS AND SCIENCE FESTIVAL VALUES

1. The child is more important than the exhibit.

2. Youth themselves are their own best exhibit of their worth.

3. No ribbon, award, or placing is worth sacrificing the reputation of the child or parent.

4. Competition is a natural human trait and should be given no more emphasis than other fundamentals.

5. Learning that occurs because of the exhibit is more important than the exhibit itself.

6. Never underestimate the impact on a youth of an example (good or bad) set by an adult.

7. A blue ribbon youth with a red ribbon project is more desirable than a red ribbon youth with a blue

ribbon project.

8. Every person needs to be noticed, to be important and to be praised.

(adapted from 4H values)
