Mission, Core Values and Aspirations

Mission stateMentGreat journeys begin at the river. Knowing that each student comes to us with

unique and infinite value, we inspire and guide each student’s journey toward

self-confidence, purpose, and identity. To help students succeed in that journey,

Christchurch, an Episcopal school, provides a sound college preparatory education

in a caring, structured community. Part of that education includes stewardship of

our river and awareness of the broader natural environment, so that our students

learn to look beyond themselves to their place in the world around them.

self-confidence - are central to our mission and at the heart of everything we do.

Th is year’s Annual Report of Giving to Christchurch School presents

facts and fi gures that add up to a remarkable year for our School.

Th anks to you, our Annual Fund reached a new high, exceeding our

goal and establishing a new record for generosity among the members

of the Seahorse family. Also, for the fi rst time this year, total giving to Christchurch exceeded

$2,000,000. Th is includes all gifts to the Annual Fund, pledge

payments from the Join Us! campaign, new pledges and payments to

our next capital improvements program, and other kinds of gifts, such

as those for scholarship, endowment, and special causes.

More than the numbers, though, every gift to Christchurch comes with

a story of why the CCS family continues to be committed and generous. We love hearing your stories

and we love continuing to create new ones with the students of today.

Today at Christchurch, the dormitories are fi lling up with both boys and girls. Th ose same

students are not only earning their way into great colleges, they are also winning championships as

Fighting Seahorse athletes. Th e white fence at the entrance has been bedecked with championship

banners in the past couple of years.

Recently, the school’s Board of Governors commissioned designs for a complete renovation of

Scott Dormitory, along with a comprehensive athletic facilities master plan. Both of those planning

projects are near completion.

Th e success of our new Great Journeys curriculum, strong college placements, the strength of our

faculty and staff , and the hard work of our students are taking Christchurch to a place of leadership

among schools. Our goal now is to build on the positive momentum and success that we have been

generating. Th e projects we are planning for the near future will provide facilities for our students and

faculty—facilities equal to the high level of their accomplishments. Th is means new and renovated

living spaces, locker rooms, training facilities, faculty housing, and more.

As we refi ne a vision of the Christchurch of the future, our partnership will continue to be important

to the success of our school. Th ank you for all the ways in which you help us turn planning and

vision into reality. Whether you are referring a great student to our admission offi ce, making your Annual Fund

gift, including us in your estate plans, making a capital gift, or volunteering on one of our Boards or

Councils, we are very grateful. As always, when we succeed, it is because we have worked together for

the good of the school and the school family. It’s important work, and we appreciate your partnership.

Class Agents are one of the most important connections to the school. Every class has between one and four class agents. Their mission is to keep in touch with classmates, update addresses and career changes, inform of births, marriages, and deaths, and create awareness of regional and on-campus events and other opportunities to get together. Fall Family Weekend 2011 Auction – A Great Success!The 2011 Fall Family Weekend Auction was a spectacular event! From the online auction to the silent auction to the live auction, there was something for everyone! Thanks to the tremendous talents of the Auction Committee and countless volunteers, the Phipps Field House was transformed into a seaside paradise with a nautical theme for Saturday night’s live auction. Parents, grandparents, alumni, faculty, friends and students gathered to enjoy a wonderful evening of festivities which included a performance by the Christchurch School Chorale, a presentation by Dave Cola on the Immersion Trips and the live auction. This year’s auction raised over $52,252. Thank you to the many volunteers and supporters who came together on the school’s behalf. The proceeds from this year’s auction will go toward a wide range of school needs including faculty professional development, Smart Boards, classroom furniture, Immersion Trips, outdoor tables and chairs, as well as many other important school needs.
