Parish Mission Statement
The People of Christ the King in Lombardare a welcoming, vibrant faith community
building the kingdom of God through our many ministries.
We celebrate our diversity,seeking to realize the gifts of each member of our parish,
as we are all joined together under one faith,in a spiritual journey of evangelization, service to others,
and a reverence for all life.
In the Eucharist, we find new life,and bring this life to others
through stewardship, education, and worship.
Please join us on the path to our heavenly home where Christ is King.
Commission Mission Statements
Administration:The Administration Commission ofChrist the King under the guidance ofthe Holy Spirit strives to promote thefinancial well-being of the Parish, to
maintain and upgrade its physical plantand to develop the financial resourcesfor the ongoing expansion and missionof the various Parish ministries.
Christian Service:The mission of Christ the KingsChristian Service Commission is toenable the parish community to put into
practice the social teachings of thechurch as encouraged and expressedby the corporal works of mercy. Thecommission encourages continuationand growth in activities and ministriesthat reflect the needs in parish diversity.
Faith Formation:
To provide opportunities to learn,experience and grow in faith by unitingevery household into the parishcommunity through study, Eucharist,service, Generations of Faith, religious
education for all ages and an EarlyLearning Academy, in order to morefully participate in the Sacraments andin the greater faith community after themodel of Christ the Teacher.Worship:
The mission of the Worship Commission is tocelebrate Gods glory in prayer, be awelcoming presence to our brothers andsisters, to experience the call of the Holy Spiritin worship, and to sense the presence of Christthe King, touching our hearts and transformingour lives. The Worship Commission shall beprimarily concerned with liturgical ministriesand spiritual development of the parish andliturgical ministers.

Theme: Communication - Our parish will develop and implement a timely,accurate, and consistent communication plan that effectively and efficientlyprovides information for parishioners, academy families, the surroundingcommunities and the diocese.
Administration Commission Improve communication by:
o Publish all activities involving a major financial expenditureo Publish present, and plan future projects
o Search for Commission members
o Set up a communications committee / director
o Define job of communications committee; catalog existing work being done
o Discern how to improve, and better co-ordinate
o Search for Communication committee members
Faith Formation Commission Improve communication through the use of:o monthly newsletter from Youth Ministry and Religious Education
o weekly academy letters from Academy and Religious Educationo CTK website
o monthly bulletin article highlighting different areas of the Commission
o emails RE & Academy
o Baptism Ministry
o Brochure for Adult Faith Formation
o Academy commission to develop a marketing, public relations, and
recruitment/retention program
Service Commission
o Bulletin Page - "Commission Happenings" or "Commissions At A Glance"or something similar - At least twice each year each CSC ministry willsubmit an article for the bulleting
o Add links on website to expand understanding of the CSC ministries - Each
ministry provides appropriate linkso Include more pictures of activities for the parish bulletin &/or church bulletin
board Worship Commission -
o Increase use of the bulletin - Write articles and give to the appropriate
person. Send to Bill before Monday deadlineo Publicity handbook to be created - contact all publicity people and create
listo Publicize Worship Commission Events - Have articles written to be emailed
to cable stations, area newspapers, and neighboring parish bulletins

Theme: Effective Parish Finances - To generate the necessary financialsupport to fulfill our parish mission and provide an environment whereresponsible stewardship is a way of life so that our parish facilities are wellmaintained and accessible to all.
Administration Commission Increase the level of weekly collections by:o Publish the Parish's quarterly financial report in the bulletin
o Publish any extra-ordinary maintenance expenditures required, and ask for
designated donationso Prepare capital budget
o Develop debt reduction plan
o Continue campaigns to increase donations
Faith Formation Commission o Envelope Usage - determine if children's envelope system is cost-effective
o
Time & Talent Food Drive - coordinate with LPD and Postmaster ofLombardo Refine Budget/Tuition Assessment - revenue vs expense vs need
future events with proposed budgetsIncrease enrollment in the Academy to ensure financial viabilityEvaluate Current expenditures in both Academy and RE
Service Commission o Encourage increased participation with existing fundraisers and events
Each ministry must encourage other ministries to attend their events
and publicize in their own newsletters Send out invitations to other churches to attend our events (Catholic
& other)o Encourage ministries to generally report their monetary contributions via
the parish bulletin as well as a year end overview of activities. Worship Commission -
o Worship Commission is funded by the budget that is set by the finance
committeeo The Music Ministry made a cd which was then sold for our new Parish Life
Center and the Music Ministryo The prayer group has fund raisers periodically throughout the year

o Hold Retreats (such as CHRP)
Theme: Increased Involvement / Community Building - To instill andfoster a deep sense of community and belonging through a variety ofliturgical, social, service, stewardship, and educational events that nurtureour relationship with Christ and one another.
Administration Commission Increase the level of stewardship through anincrease in the number of Parishioners active in the Commission by:
o Search for Commission members

o Academy hosts a variety of service projects throughout the year.

o Academy will outreach to Holy Trinity in cooperation for use of our gym.
o Academy and RE will work together on Angel tree service.

o Provide support and involvement for various events celebrating the Parish's

Theme: Lifelong Spiritual Development of Parishioners - To encourageevery member of the CTK community to live the Catholic Faith as they growin an ever-deepening relationship with the Lord.
Administration Commission Maintain the campus facilities, to providesuitable, usable space for formation activities

Faith Formation Commission o Confirmation Students - attend 5 spiritual growth sessions outside of class
o Children's Liturgy of the Word - seek new volunteers, enrich and enhance
CLW experience for children under age 8o Parish Penance Renewal - Coordinate with Worship commission for lectors
and cantorso Parish Mission - Coordination with Worship Commission
o Adults of the parish to have a better understanding of the Bible as Catholics
- 1st and 3rd Wednesday discuss the writings of St. Paulo Adults of the parish to have a better understanding of the Sunday
Scriptures - Thursday mornings @10:00 a.m.o Academy will have a Mass in the fall and First Friday Liturgies to the Kdg.
Service Commission o Start and end every meeting with prayer

Theme: Service and Outreach - In response to our baptismal calling, ourparish will raise awareness and develop outreach programs that will servethe needs of our parish, local community, diocese and beyond.
Administration Commission Maintain the campus facilities, to providesuitable, usable space for formation activities
o Prepare capital budget
o Develop debt reduction plan
o Continue campaigns to increase donations
Faith Formation Commission o Mission Trips - Obtain list of needs from impoverished communities; build
supply listso Service Projects for Whole Families - Develop needs through the corporal
works of mercy. One each month for grades 1-6.o Academy will have periodic service projects for pre-K and Kdg.
o Organize events for young family life.
o Deacon to visit RE families during the school year.
Service Commission o Find additional ways to reach out to the homeless - Investigate feasibility of
participating in DuPage Pads Housing Programs or Habitat for Humanityo Systematically access and respond to parish/community needs
Expand Helping Hands ministry Investigate having a SVDP clothing pick up truck &/or increase
participation in the White Elephant saleo Encourage participation in Peace and Justice Ministry
Find an interested & qualified individual to head this ministry
Share information on Peace & Justice Opportunities using the CTKweb site and bulletin articles

o Institute First Aid/CPR classes for certification in CPR Publicize in bulletin.

Focus on ministers
