Dear Brothers and Sisters, Due to the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic most of the states in our country have issued executive orders with restrictions and cautions regarding the avoidance of large mass gatherings to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Our bishop, David O’Connell, concerned for the common good and the physical as well as spiritual well-being of all of the people of the Diocese of Trenton, agreed to cooperate with the governor’s direction to create “social distancing”. For our part we are urged to be seriously responsible and to cooperate with our civil officials and the precautionary restrictions they are placing on us during this crisis. In the Diocese of Trenton all public Masses and Holy Week liturgies have been suspended. Catholic faithful have been dispensed from the obligation of attending Sunday Mass for the weekends from March 21st to April 3rd. That date is subject to change as the coronavirus pandemic evolves. As your Pastor I have decided to implement the following; 1. Fr. Fernando and I are celebrating private daily masses as well as weekend masses, live

streamed, in addition to posting prayers and messages from me on our YouTube Channel-- Fr. Javo Díaz. Our parishioners are encouraged to celebrate with us from home

utilizing the following schedule: A. English masses - Saturday 4:00 p.m. and Sunday 10:30 a.m.

Monday - Saturday mass 12:10 p.m. B. Portuguese mass - Sunday 9:00 a.m. and Tuesday 7:30 p.m. C. Spanish mass - Sunday 12:00 noon

Wednesday and First Friday mass 7:30 p.m.

2. Funerals should be attended only by the immediate family members of the deceased, following the safety norms enforced by authorities and funeral homes to avoid spread of the COVID-19. A date can be chosen at a later time when the pandemic subsides for a

public memorial service. 3. Parishioners should visit the parish website cklb.org to be informed of upcoming changes and to read the weekly copy of the parish bulletin. 4. The Star of the Sea Church will be open every day from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament for personal prayer. Please keep at least a prudent 6 feet distance from one another. If you visit our church try not to touch anything; do not touch your face and wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water when you return home. The Church will remain open until the civil authorities say differently. 5. The parish office will be staffed, but not open to the public. Any questions or concerns will be handled ONLY by phone and email Monday thru Friday, 8:30 am - 12:00 pm. As your pastor, fulfilling my duty with the Lord and being responsible for this wonderful parish, I would like to encourage you to continue supporting our parish with your prayers, your love and your donations. Your donation can be made by mail, through the parish office or through the Star of the Sea Church sacristy. This is a very difficult time for all, and has hurt us in many ways. I know that God in his mercy and with his almighty power will rescue us from this pandemic and its consequences. I beg you to send your donations to our office. They are vital to us, and your generosity throughout the years has kept this vibrant parish strong. I assure you all of my daily prayers and the celebration of the Holy Mass. Business Office News: In light of the ongoing Coronavirus situation, many businesses and retail establishments have had to either modify their hours or close their doors in the interest of public health safety. Our Christ the King Business Office has been affected by this situation as well. Our staff will continue to work from the Business Office for as long as we can, but we have had to make the difficult decision to close our doors for walk-in service, both for your safety and for ours. The Rosary Altar Society of Christ the King Parish is having a bus trip to Sight & Sound Theater, Strasburg, PA on Tuesday June 30th to see the story of Queen Esther. Trip will include lunch at Shady Maple Restaurant. The bus will leave promptly at 7:30 am from the Star of the Sea parking lot. You must be there no later than 7:15 am.
