From the Pastor’s Desk

This week, we remember Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His work for racial equality helped to shape our country for the better, and his example is a source of inspiration for us who continue to fight for justice in this land. Every generation needs men and women who are passionate about the rights of the oppressed and who can advocate on their behalf. As Christians, we want to follow in the footsteps of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., serving our brothers and sisters who suffer discrimination, for God has made us all in his image and likeness, no matter our color or creed. In this same vein, there will be a group of pilgrims from Christ the King who will travel to Washington, D.C. this week for the annual March for Life. We will join hundreds of thousands of others who will be marching on behalf of the rights of the unborn. The right to life is the most foundational right we have, and we will continue to stand up for the dignity and sanctity of all human life from conception to natural death. Please bless our pilgrimage with your prayers! May the Lord bless you throughout the upcoming week.

The Sisters’ Corner

The Sisters invite you to a new Bible Study that will begin this Monday, January 15. Classes will be offered on Mondays and Thursdays at 6:00 p.m. and Tuesdays and Fridays at 7:30 p.m. in the church basement. This is your chance to learn about God’s Word! Contact the Sisters if you have questions. (This event is in Spanish.) The Sisters are preparing a special prayer service and lunch for prisoners at Ross Correctional Institution in Chillicothe, Ohio, on Saturday, January 27. They are in need of food and monetary donations. If you would like to help the sisters with this special project, please call the convent for more information. (This event is in Spanish.)

The parish office will be closed on Monday, January 15, as our nation honors Martin Luther King, Jr. Let us remember the labors

of this great American hero and continue to work for an end to racism and unjust prejudice in our land. Mass that day will remain at 7:00 a.m.

Children in pre-K through fourth grade are invited to participate in the Children’s Liturgy of the Word during the 10:00 a.m. Mass next Sunday, January 21. They will hear the readings and learn

about God’s great love with Mrs. Dunlevy and Ms. Laihr. (This event is in English.) Ms. Amy Bittner will be available for free legal counsel in the church vestibule next Monday, January 22, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Ms. Bittner deals primarily with issues pertaining to immigration.

Please note that Amy will now be offering legal counsel to parishioners on the first Monday of every month, beginning on Monday, February 5. (This event is in Spanish.) News from the Knights of Columbus: The blood drive was very

successful! We collected 22 pints! The donors saved 66 lives and the Knights would like to thank all of the donors who came out in the bitter cold. Mark your calendars for the next blood drive: Sunday, March 11. Also, save the date for the next Pancake Breakfast, Sunday, January

era of St. Augustine, one of the most remarkable men of all time. We will meet to discuss the book on Sunday, January 28 at 6:00 p.m. in the office. You can read the book for free on FORMED.org. Or grab a hard copy and start reading. (This event is in English.) Winter Fest 2018 is just around the corner! We will be celebrating

this event on Saturday, February 10, and we are in need of volunteers! Please sign-up in the vestibule after Mass. Also, desserts for Winter Fest will be accepted Friday, February 9, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on Saturday, February 10, during the day. Let’s make this year’s Winter Fest a success! All Saints Academy Catholic School

We are happy to announce the receipt of a $30,000 check from the Catholic Foundation. This grant will help us get closer to covering the cost of replacing the rest of the windows for our school. Thank you to the Catholic Foundation and other donors who have been very generous with supporting this project! We could not do it without you! We have two families in our school community who have been tragically affected by home fires. We are looking to assist both families who need basic items like beds and other household goods. Contact the office if you would like to help us in this effort.

School registration will begin in February. Register early as spots fill quickly. The Registration fee is $125 with a $30 testing fee. We are a tuition based school, but we accept Ed Choice Scholarships if you qualify. If you are interested, call the office to give your name and contact information – we will reach out to you in February.

Monday, January 22, is the Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of the Unborn. The annual Respect Life Mass will be held on

Monday, January 22, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Cathedral (212 E. Broad St.). Bishop Frederick Campbell will be the celebrant. After the Mass, the Roe Remembrance will take place at the Ohio Statehouse from noon to 1:00 p.m. This event is sponsored by Greater Columbus Right to Life. The program will be held in the Statehouse Atrium. Please allow extra time for new Statehouse security measures. Stickers, signs, and weapons are not permitted inside the Statehouse.
