WHY A FARMER?

In this lesson, we talk about Christ as a farmer to help you understand the Feast of Tabernacles & Ingathering, which we celebrate during the month of October. So let’s get started!

A FARMER.....What does a farmer do? He plants the seeds into the ground. Those seeds are then fed & nourished with water, light, air and the nutrients from the soil. Once these seeds grow into healthy veggies, fruits or trees they are called crops. The farmer removes the crops from the soil & gathers them together. Sounds like a lot of work doesn’t it!

CHRIST IS A FARMER

Christ is our farmer and we represent his crops. This world is like a field of soil where he planted us. In order for us to become healthy, mature crops, he feeds us the word of God, which is in the bible.

DID YOU SAY FEED US THE WORD OF GOD?

What! Feed us the word of God? That’s right. The word of God is like food. Why? Without food, you won’t grow properly or worse...you can die. Even if you skip one meal you might notice that your tummy or head aches or you don’t have the energy to play or do your school work. We cannot survive without food nor can we survive without the word of God. That’s how the Lord made us.

THE WORD OF GODSo how exactly do we feed on the word of God?....by reading the bible every single day. This bible includes the 10 commandments, testimonies of Jesus and other important lessons that teach us how to obey God. To become a healthy, mature crop we must be nourished by the word of God & we must OBEY the laws. So what happens if we don’t read or obey the bible? One day, God will destroy us. That is why feeding on the word of God is necessary for our survival.

CHRIST PLANTS & FEEDSThus far we have learned.....

As a farmer, Christ plants his children in this world, which can be likened unto a field. He then feeds us with the word of God (BIBLE) so that we can grow into healthy, mature crops. Good & mature crops are those individuals that obey & love the laws of the Lord. But what happens next?

HARVEST TIME!

It is only until AFTER a crop has fully matured that a farmer will begin to harvest.

To harvest is the process of gathering mature crops from a field

FEAST OF TABERNACLES & INGATHERING

During the Feast of Tabernacles & Ingathering, we talk about the final harvest of God. This includes the gathering together of ALL his children (crops). Why? Because this world will NOT always exist. There is too much sin in this world with too many bad people. So one day, God is going to destroy the bad people & this earth but he will rescue his saints.

CROPS MATURE AT DIFFERENT TIMES

A farmer knows that different crops, such as grapes or wheat, do not grow or mature at the same time or in the same season. Christ also knows this about his children. Not all of us come to learn of God or obey at the same time. That is why the Lord’s harvest will NOT occur in one single day.

NOT ALL CROPS ARE GOODBecause of sin, not all crops grown on this earth are good. There are bad crops that represent people in this world that willingly sin against God. During God’s harvest he will separate the bad crops from the good crops. What will happen to the bad crops? They will be destroyed with fire!

THE HARVEST IS A PERIOD OF TIME

The harvest will last for a period time. We do not know how long this period will be but we do know that many miracles & signs in the heaven will take place. The gospel of Christ will also also be preached throughout the world by saints who already know the word of God (good & mature crops). When his children hear the gospel, they will repent for their sins & begin to obey. They will become good & mature crops that are ready to be delivered from this earth.

FEAST OF TABERNACLES & INGATHERING

During God’s final harvest we will unite with ALL saints. Think of a family reunion but so much bigger! God will also bring back to life those saints that have already passed, such as Adam & Eve and King David. All of us will be given new bodies that are free from sin & death. Our hearts & minds will be holy like God. Once we are changed, we will go up to heaven together as one big family with Christ.
