Protocol No. 6/2017

PASCHA ARCHPASTORAL LETTER

To the Very Reverend Protopresbyters, Very Reverend and Reverend Fathers, and Faithful of our God-Protected Diocese:

CHRIST IS RISEN! INDEED HE IS RISEN!

“…its truth is seen in Him and you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining.” (1 John 2:8)

In this world where darkness unceasingly prowls and is ever ready to overtake and consume any goodness which may exist, we must remain steadfast in our faith and allow Christ’s Light to shine through us, transforming us into beacons of hope for the en re world.

During the beau ful service of the Resurrec on, wai ng in a darkened church, an cipa ng the Light, we should be mind-ful of what we are about to experience and its significance. The Resurrec on is a real event. It is happening right now for all of us. On this great and glorious Feast of Pascha – the Resurrec on of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, our hearts are filled with tremendous joy, our souls are transformed and we bask in the Light of the Truth. It is my fervent prayer that we con nue and increase our efforts to help conquer the seemingly overwhelming sorrows and despairs in this darkened world by sharing the “Good News” of our Lord’s Resurrec on, not only with the proclama on of “Christ is Risen” but also by also being the shining, radiant beacons of our Lord’s Light and Love.

Personal Gree ngs

On this Bright and Holy Feast, I extend my prayerful best wishes to you, the Clergy and Laity, Friends and Supporters of the Amer-ican Carpatho-Russian Orthodox Diocese. May you truly experience the love, joy, and excitement of the early followers of Christ when they first saw Him a er His Resurrec on. Christ is Risen!

Working in the Risen Lord’s Vineyard with much love,

PASCHA ~ EASTER

VELIK DEN ~ THE GREAT DAY!

He is not here!

He is Risen!

Where did those words come from?

It was two Angels in dazzling clothing who made that announcement at Jesus’

tomb at sunrise on the “Great Day” He rose from the dead.

Believing people have been repeating those words ever since.

There have been many unbelievers over the centuries, some of them perma-

nent, some of them with brilliant minds, and some of them with famous names.

Atheists and agnostics are everywhere.

But the simple truth is this. Even an exceptional scholar who would examine

the mystery of the empty tomb would come away discovering absolutely nothing

more than was know to the soldiers who guarded that tomb a long time ago.

The fact is, He Who was buried there is not there. His dead body could not be

found—because He rose from the dead! He is Risen! Period.

His Resurrection is a miracle revealed only to Easter believers. 2.2 billion Chris-

tians in the world believe Christ’s Resurrection.

Aren’t you glad you are one of them?

Christ is Risen! Indeed He is Risen!

raffle tickets for our Annual Spring Basket Raffle. Please consider

how you can help make this event a success. We still need door

prizes. Please see Diane if you would like to donate a few door

prizes.

Pleas attend the Basket Raffle and bring some friends along. Your participation

is important. Since our hall will not be ready, we are holding the event at Riverside

Community Center at 35 Stanton Street. It is very easily accessible.

Please sell tickets and join the fun!

\Before the dawn Mary came with the women and found the stone

rolled away from the tomb.

And they heard from the angel: He abides in life everlasting.

Why seek Him among the dead as if He were a man?

Behold the burial shroud!

Go forth and proclaim to the world: the Lord is risen and conquered

death.

For He is the Son of God and He is the Savior of mankind!

Let God arise and let His enemies be scattered, and let those who hate

Him flee from before His face.

As smoke vanishes, so let them vanish as wax melts before a fire!

So let the wicked parish at the presence of God, and let the righteous

ones rejoice.

This the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad it!
