2017-2018 Schedule of Rehearsals, Masses & Special Events

• All things Choir, including this schedule, are posted on our website:

http://olachoir.wordpress.com. Check it for information and music recordings for practice

throughout the year.

• Choir members are expected to attend each rehearsal, unless one cannot attend due to sickness

or family emergency. Out of respect to our ministry and each other in the choir, your consistent

attendance is appreciated.

• Rehearsals begin promptly at 7:00 p.m. Plan arriving a few minutes early to check your choir box

and be present for the warm-up.

• Preferred method of communication with Martha is e-mail. My personal cell phone number is

listed above in the event you do need to speak with me. Information in regards to future absences

or any information you’d like me to remember is best transmitted in writing, via e-mail. If you

have questions, comments or concerns, please make an appointment to speak to me outside of

rehearsal.

• The choir will sing at the 10:30 a.m. Mass each Sunday from October 8 to Pentecost, Sunday,

May 20, 2018. Rehearsal ahead of each Mass on Sunday will begin promptly at 9:45 a.m. sharp

in the Sanctuary. Plan to arrive early, so that we can begin to warm up on time.

• Additional optional opportunity for service. During the season, the choir is invited to sing for

funerals. When a funeral or memorial service is scheduled, I email the choir to ask if singers are

available. I know that the families appreciate the musical support in their time of grief. No

pressure, singers come as willing and available.

• What to bring to each rehearsal: a pencil to mark your music, sense of humor, patience, team-

player attitude, and most importantly, an attitude of service towards God and the parish

community. Our choir raises its' voice in prayer – for each other and for our beautiful community.

Rehearsal & Event Schedule

Choir rehearsals begin at 7:00 p.m. The choir meets at 9:45 a.m. before Mass on Sundays.

Your patience is requested in the 2017-2018 season, as with the exciting opening of our new church,

some flexibility may be needed in regards to some of our schedule. There will very well be the addition of

an organ dedication concert to this schedule.

12/9: Choir call for Christmas concert: 6:30 p.m. - Concert begins at 7 p.m.

12/16: Christmas Caroling: meet at 1:15 p.m. for photo opportunity, 1:30 p.m. start at the Windsor on

Natures Way, Lakewood Ranch – please dress in your festive Christmas gear!

12/24: Christmas Eve call time: 9:30 p.m. Pre-Mass music at 10:00 p.m. Mass at 10:30 p.m.

12/25: Christmas Day – Choir call time 9:40 a.m., Mass at 10:00 a.m.

2/14: Ash Wednesday, meet at 6:40 p.m. for Mass at 7 p.m.

3/23: Stations of the Cross, meet at 6:40 p.m. for 7 p.m. service.
