CHORAL MEDITATION
Prayer Before Singing D. Hustad Moody Chorale
A song is a beautiful thing! Voices join in full-throated melody, and lift to blend in glorious harmony. Men’s hearts are moved, e’en lifted to ecstasy with a song; for a song is a beautiful thing.
But when I sing, Lord, let it not be for this alone, lest fruitless I be when day is done. Touch Thou my lips. Thy beauty let me see,
and fill my heart with love eternally, that men may come to know and adore Thee. Lord, this prayer I bring, Lord, for Thee I sing!

*SING GOD’S PRAISE
Hymn #2—Holy, Holy, Holy Text: R. Heber; Tune: NICAEA
Stanza 1
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty! Early in the morning our song shall rise to Thee;
Holy, Holy, Holy, merciful and mighty! God in Three-Persons, blessed Trinity!
Stanza 2
Holy, Holy, Holy! All the saints adore Thee, Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea; Cherubim and seraphim falling down before Thee,
Which was and is, and evermore shall be.
Stanza 3 Holy, Holy, Holy! Though the darkness hide Thee, Though the eye of sinful man Thy glory may not see. Only Thou art holy, there is none beside Thee,
Perfect in power, in love, and purity.
Stanza 4 Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty!
All Thy works shall praise Thy name in earth, and sky, and sea; Holy, Holy, Holy, merciful and might!
God in Three-Persons, blessed Trinity! Amen!
AFFIRMATION OF OUR FAITH
The Apostles’ Creed I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth: And in Jesus Christ His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits on the right hand of God, the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
CHORAL MINISTRY
In Dulci Jubilo arr. M. Culloton Moody Chorale
In sweet joy, let us our homage show, our heart’s joy reclineth
In a manger, and like a bright star shineth, In your mother’s lap. Beginning and ending.
O infant Jesus! I yearn for thee always! Hear me, I beseech thee,
O best of boys! My pray’r let it reach thee, O Prince of Glory; Draw me after you.
O love of the Father! O mercy of the Son! Deeply were we stained, Through our sins;
But thou hast for us gained the joys of heaven! O that we were there!
Where are joys, where, if they be not there? There are angels singing new songs!
And there the bells are ringing in the King’s courts O that we were there, in sweet joy!

PRAYER with THE LORD’S PRAYER
Scott Moore, Fort Myers
Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy Name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into
temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

HYMN OF RESPONSE
Hymn #567 — Abide with Me Text: H. Lyte; Tune: EVENTIDE
Stanza 1 Abide with me — fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens — Lord, with me abide! When other helpers fail and comforts flee, Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me!
Stanza 3
I need Thy presence every passing hour; What but Thy grace can foil the tempter’s power? Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be? Through cloud and sunshine, oh, abide with me!
Stanza 5
Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes; Sing through the gloom, and point me to the skies;
Heaven’s morning breaks and earth’s vain shadows flee! In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me!

THIS SUNDAY MORNING we will enjoy the ministry of the Moody Chorale (Moody Bible Institute, Chicago), who together with The Chamber Singers from Franklin and Marshall College (Lancaster, PA) and our own Village Church Choir. Music will fill the sanctuary with glorious sounds of praise. Pastor Hawkins will use the music as a launching pad into the scriptures as he teaches us how good doctrine always leads to doxology and praise. In the evening service Professor Gregory Athnos will present the first of a three part series entitled, The Easter Jesus and the Good Friday Church, with parts two and three presented through the Academy for Lifelong Learning on Monday and Tuesday mornings.
IT’S SPRING BREAK SUNDAY! It is our joy to welcome the 36 voices of the Moody Chorale from the Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill as well as the 18 voices of Chamber Singers from Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA as the sing God’s praises and join voices with the Village Church Choir in this special Festival of Sacred Song. It’s our privilege to collaborate with both conductors, Dr. Xiangtang Hong of Moody Bible Institute and Dr. William Wright of Franklin & Marshall College, to share this music ministry as we worship together today.

THE EASTER JESUS AND THE GOOD FRIDAY CHURCH -- Professor Greg Athnos will prepare us for Holy Week with an insightful examination of how the early church viewed the resurrection of Christ. His extensive studies of the art in the catacombs in Rome and elsewhere reveal important dimensions of the worship life of the first generations of Christians. His series will begin in our Sunday evening service on March 13, and will be followed by two Academy classes on March 14 and 15 (check the Academy program for details and sign up for those sessions). Professor Athnos is a gifted and popular speaker on the subject and has presented this material around the world.

GREETINGS PASTOR ANDY AND THE VILLAGE CHURCH at Shell Point. I wanted to thank you all for your generous outpouring of love on our family; your kindness and generosity is evident not only in the love offering check but also in the many words of encouragement. While I was at your church I felt completely at home and overwhelmingly affirmed. I greatly enjoyed not only the opportunities I had to minister to you in our times together, but also, and maybe more so, in the many personal conversations that we had. I thank God for giving me the privilege of spending a week with you all in Fort Myers. May God bless you all richly. — Peace, John and Lisa Sappia (and the kids)
