Cambridge English examinations are the world’s most

valuable range of English qualifications, recognised by over

13,500 universities, employers and governments

worldwide. WIE is the only Cambridge Examination Centre

in the Waikato and Bay of Plenty regions.

OET Examinat ion Centre

WIE is an exam centre for OET (Occupational English

Test), the English language test designed for healthcare

professionals. Accepted by healthcare regulators and

councils in NZ and abroad, the qualification is used for

registration, education, and employment opportunities.

TOEIC Examinat ion Cent re

TOEIC (Test of English for International Communication) is

the world’s most popular test for Business English in the

workplace, recognised by nearly 14,000 organisations in

over 150 countries. WIE is the only TOEIC Testing Centre

in Hamilton, New Zealand.

Funded by the NZ Government

Waikato Institute of Education (WIE) is one of the only

few English Language Schools to receive three types of

funding for English language courses from the Tertiary

Education Commission (TEC). WIE receives Student

Achievement Component Funding, Adult and

Community Education (ACE) in Communities Funding,

and English for Migrants Funding.

Cambridge IELTS Pre -Test ing Centre

As WIE is approved to offer IELTS Pre-Tests, students

have the opportunity to take an official IELTS test under

test conditions without the pressure of the actual test.

Internat ional Engl ish Test Examiners

WIE has an excellent pool of certified examiners on

staff, including those with Cambridge, IELTS, OET and

TOEIC experience. Enthusiastic and engaging, our

teachers create a dynamic and professional learning

environment and go the extra mile to help you achieve

the results you want. All our teachers are fully qualified,

native English speakers, most with over 15 years of

experience teaching.

Nationally recognized language teaching qualification

developed specifically for those wanting to be a

language educator in English, Chinese, Spanish,

Japanese or in their own native language.

NZCEL Courses

WIE’s New Zealand Certificate in English Language

(NZCEL) program gives students the opportunity to gain

direct entry (without IELTS or other exam) to certificate,

diploma, degree, and post-graduate programs at

Institutes of Technology throughout New Zealand.

Students can gain NZCEL at any of 6 levels from level 1

(foundation) to level 5, though only levels 3 through 5

are considered sufficient for further studies.
